I come from a family of severe dog lovers. When I was 4 we owned a rottie, Meeka until she passed to doggie heaven. She was protective and kind. Such a beautiful dog who loved her forever family and we loved her! Meeka was a tough loss and shortly after we lost her we discovered my mom had stage 3 cancer. Fast forward 5 years later once my mom's cancer was in remission. We decided we were ready to bring another member into the family and rescued a stray shephard chow mutt, biscuit who was left on the side of the road. A year after biscuit was in our home we decided she needed a friend so we rescued a cocker spaniel Lola. They are 15 and 14 and still kicking. Both have their respective health issues at such old age. Lola is deaf in both ears and blind in one eye. We are patient with her and help her around the house and up on the bed for cuddles. Since my brother died biscuit refuses to eat sometimes. This alone is an art-form to get her to eat. Sometimes she likes it dry or wet. Other times she like you to sit next to her and talk or sing. Other times she wants to be left alone, or eat it off the carpet instead of her bowl. The job is not over until she has eaten all of it. You have to make sure to keep Lola away from biscuit while she eats otherwise Lola will be sure to lick up every last drop! Haha. I hope these stories of the different dogs I've cared show you that I have a well rounded experience caring for various different dog needs, ages, and breeds.
