Dogs, cats, rabbits, oh my!

Pet care experience

Care for: Seniors, Special Needs, Puppies, Kittens,Small Pets (fish, reptiles, rabbits, rats, etc) I accept all breeds, sizes, and ages! Love is love is love. I board altered dogs (spayed/neutered if over 6 months old) and require current vaccine status to keep everyone as healthy as possible. I can administer oral, topical, aural (ear), and subcutaneous medications. I've been a pet owner for over 25 years and have worked and volunteered in the veterinary and animal care field for 25 years (8 years at a local Emergency & Specialty Animal Hospital; 2 years at a local Vet Hospital; 2 years at a boarding facility; 5 years at pet supply stores). Being able to read animal body language and pick up on cues/signals of anxiety, fear, and aggression is crucial when introducing and housing dogs together. I am confident in my experience and ability to do this calmly in order to keep all beings in my care safe (I have 3 children, 2 dogs, 3 cats, a rabbit, and 5 rats. Yes, it's a controlled chaos here!). I also use Thunder Ease calming plug-in pheromone dispensers in my home to help alleviate stress or anxiety your dog may have while boarding (during 4th of July or other highly stimulating holidays, I also use Rescue Remedy in food or water as needed, use white noise with a sound machine and fans, TV, or music). Meet my pets: ~ 3 cats (Tira, Cosmo, Cora) ~ 2 dogs (Pogo, a 3-legged 14 year old German Shepherd mix, and Zeus, a 4.5 year old Rottweiler who was a previous client!) ~ 1 rabbit (Coco) ~ 5 rats (Oreo, BonBon, Mochi, Caramel, Button) ___________________________________________________________ SERVICES: ***MEET & GREETS*** ~ 30 minutes or less ~ No charge ~ Appointment only ~ Generally occur on weekends, and are dependent on any current dogs I have in my home. This is a time for us to meet (you, your dog, and myself), see my home (for boarding/daycare), or for me to see your home (drop-in visits/walks), share information, and have any questions answered. I am happy to answer any questions before meeting, via message or phone call. ***Current boarding/daycare dogs will NOT be introduced to your dog during a Meet & Greet. My dogs may or may not be introduced either; each situation is different and will be assessed at the time. These visits can be overstimulating for some animals (new smells, new environment, new people). I want your dog to feel safe and comfortable when they leave a Meet at my house. (Meet & Greets are not covered by the 'Rover Guarantee' since Meet & Greets are free). _________________________________________________________ ***DAYCARE*** Drop off: 8-10am; Pick up: 4-6pm -- Let your social pup romp, play, and nap at my house! Dogs over 6 months will need to be spayed or neutered. All dogs need to have current vaccinations and collar with tags and/or updated microchip. ***BOARDING*** Pick up: Before 10am on last day; after 10am will incur a Daycare fee -- Your doggo will enjoy "camp" at my house while you're away. Dogs over 6 months will need to be spayed or neutered. All dogs need to have current vaccinations and collar with tags and/or updated microchip. Outside: ~ 7-8 foot fence ~ Side Play Yard: Accessible through French double doors in living room, opens onto uncovered deck with view of street. (May be unavailable depending on weather/yard conditions (rain, mud) ~ Side Potty Yard: Accessible through sliding glass door in dining room, opens onto covered porch and gravel potty area. YOU BRING: ~ Leash and Collar/Harness (with tags) ~ Food (medications or supplements, if applicable). Please bring a little extra food, as they are usually more active while staying here. ~ Anything that you think will make their stay more enjoyable, like specific treats or a blanket from home (keep in mind, anything you send with your pup - bed, blanket, toys - have the potential of becoming shared or damaged, because... dogs). Personal bowls/bedding are typically washed before getting sent home (or during the stay, as needed). I PROVIDE: ~ Bowls (including Slo-Feeders) - cleaned after each use ~ Water bowls inside and outside (washed daily) ~ Bedding (beds, blankets, couches) - washed as needed ~ Toys (Kongs, Nylabones, ropes, balls) ~ Treats ~ Emergency/First Aid Supplies EXTRAS! ~ DAILY: Plug-in pheromone diffusers (Thunder Ease/Adaptil) ~ AS NEEDED: Rescue Remedy and calming treats ~ DAILY: Dental chew treat ~ DAILY: Powdered probiotic at breakfast ~ DAILY: Furbo cameras inside ~ DAILY: Ring cameras on the side play yard & front door _________________________________________________________ ***WALKS*** 35 minutes - Your pup will get energy out and sniff stimulation in! We will use the Wooftrax/Walk For A Dog app to track our route/mileage/time. Recommended up-to-date vaccinations and microchip with current info. YOU PROVIDE: ~ Leash and properly sized Collar/Harness (with tags) ~ Bowls/water fountains ~ Cleaning supplies (paper towels, cleaning spray/wipes, vacuum/broom, garbage bags) I BRING: ~ Poop bags ~ Treats ~ Emergency/First Aid Supplies EXTRAS! ~ DAILY: Pheromone spray for dogs & cats (Thunder Ease/Adaptil/Feliway) ~ AS NEEDED: Rescue Remedy and calming treats ~ DAILY: Dental chew treat ~ DAILY: Powdered probiotic mixed with any meal ______________________________________________________________ ***DROP-IN VISITS*** 35 minutes - Let me check in on your pets! I will check food and water, give playtime/snuggles/brushing. Will happily water plants, check mail, bring in packages, garbage cans, adjust lights and blinds/curtains. Recommended up-to-date vaccinations and collar with tags and/or microchip. YOU PROVIDE: ~ Food (medications or supplements, if applicable) ~ Bowls/water fountains ~ Carrier for cats/small pets in the event of emergency ~ Cleaning supplies (paper towels, cleaning spray/wipes, vacuum/broom, garbage bags, cat/small animal litter/bedding) I BRING: ~ Poop bags ~ Treats ~ Emergency/First Aid Supplies EXTRAS! ~ DAILY: Pheromone spray for dogs & cats (Thunder Ease/Adaptil/Feliway) ~ AS NEEDED: Rescue Remedy and calming treats ~ DAILY: Dental chew treat ~ DAILY: Powdered probiotic mixed with any meal

Kirsten was so accommodating to a last minute need and took incredible care of our 2 dogs! They obviously enjoyed being there and were relaxed and comfortable. She provided frequent updates throughout the day and treats and food to send us on our continued journey. Wonderful care!

Kirsten always provides 5-star care to my beloved rabbit, Pancake. I swear he is always a little bummed to see us come home because that means he doesn’t get playtime with Kirsten - at least until our next trip! I always feel at ease knowing Kirsten has unmatched experience with animals. We HIGHLY recommend Kirsten.

Our cats always love Kirsten! She always gives our kitties plenty of cuddles and play time and takes very good care of them. Wouldn’t want any other sitter.

Age, spay/neuter status, any medical issues/allergies/special needs, recent or impending surgeries, habits at home, if they are socialized with children, cats, or other dogs, prey drive (we have a rabbit and rats) current veterinary care provider, vaccination status, and if they are microchipped.

A typical day

We live in a nice, quiet Tigard neighborhood. We have a small backyard for playing, sniffing, exploring, and squirrel watching. Walks are very limited during daycare and boarding, but the dogs get a lot of yard and indoor playtime. Your dog's sleeping arrangement: We have several dog blankets and beds. Depending on your dog's curiosity level, they may need to snooze overnight in a kennel, so they are not wandering or irritating the cats or small animals. You are welcome to bring a bed or blanket for them! Time I'll spend with your dog: Most of the day! Again, depending on your dog's curiosity level, they may need to be kenneled if I need to leave the house to do an errand or take my kids somewhere. I do require dogs to be crate trained, whether they are here for daycare or boarding. They may never need to be kenneled while here, but if they aren't used to a kennel, they're going to be very stressed out (barking, panting, chewing, digging, etc). It's not a pretty sight and is upsetting to the other animals and humans.

I work from home half of the week, the other half at the office, with some excursions here and there for errands or to shuttle my kids around to activities. My husband works from home a few days a week, so a human will almost always be home with boarding and daycare dogs. Drop-off and pick-up times will be confirmed when the stay is booked. We have Furbo cameras inside and a Ring camera on the side play yard.
