Dog Lovers With A Big Yard Near SMF

Pet care experience

Jake and I are life-long dog lovers and we have experience caring for dogs of all shapes and sizes. We've been providing pet-sitting services through Rover for about 2 years, so we have plenty of practice with welcoming new dogs into our home while their parents are away. Outside of pet sitting, we've also taken in foster dogs for various organizations, learning to manage several different dogs' behavioral and medical needs (as well as keeping puppies)! Our current furry child is actually a 3-year-old GSD foster fail himself. Rocky has been around other dogs his entire life and is very good at maintaining an appropriate level of interaction with new friends. He is tolerant of puppies and makes sure to give older and smaller dogs space when needed. In addition to Rover and fostering, I also used to volunteer at a veterinary clinic, and we both have extensive experience with special-needs dogs and dogs with anxiety. We also provide discounts for multi-small dog (under 25 lbs.) stays.

The amount of communication was great and we really appreciated the updates about Arthur. He had a great time and we appreciated how well he was taken care of.

Kirsten and Jake took great care of our boxers during a short 4 day vacation. We are always worried when using any type of boarding care because our boxers are a handful, but Kirsten and Jake made us feel at ease. The communication was top notch. They provided feedback and pictures during the entire stay. Also, they were flexible with our drop-off/ pick-up times which is super helpful. We would definitely use Kirsten and Jake again for future stays.

We left our 9-month puppy with Kirsten and Jake for 5 days. It was a very positive experience for us as well as for our dog. This was our first time leaving our dog, but Kirsten immediately made us feel at ease by communicating with us and sending us photo updates. We immediately felt our dog was in good hands, and could focus on enjoying our trip.

We take all breeds and have no size restrictions! However, meet and greets are required at our house for all new clients. This is to ensure the comfort and safety of your dog as well as our own. Please do not enquire about pet care if you are unable or unwilling to accommodate a meet and greet ahead of time. Repeat clients do not have to re-greet, and we will take day-of requests depending on availability. We are also privately insured to handle any emergencies that might happen - none have so far, but we like to be extra prepared!

A typical day

Jake and I like to go on walks around the neighborhood, and our dog Rocky loves playing and sniffing in the yard with new friends (while supervised, of course). We also like to just cuddle on the couch, but if you prefer your pet not get on furniture, I'll abide by those rules. I make sure to send photos every day; I know leaving your family member with someone else can be stressful, so I try my best to stay responsive to messages and maintain clear communication so you can enjoy your time away in peace.

I work 100% from home and Jake has an early work schedule, so your pet will have someone watching and caring for them nearly all the time. I do keep dogs in a crate or play pen when no one is home for their own safety, so if you're dog is not comfortable being crated or confined for up to 2-4(max) hours at a time, please be sure to communicate that. We live in a single-story home with a large fenced yard, and your dog will be allowed multiple potty breaks throughout the day. We walk Rocky around local parks when the weather is nice, and your dog is more than welcome to tag along if that's something they like to do. We also play fetch and have a kiddie pool for the summertime, and make sure to have plenty of mentally stimulating interaction and play with our furry guests throughout their stay. We allow dogs on our furniture and often allow them in the bed with us, but also have crates and dog beds available if your dog is more comfortable sleeping on their own. When in our care, your doggy will be looked after like family and have tons of safe fun!
