Dog Heaven at Pro Dog Walkers Home

Pet care experience

Please note: if you are a New Boarding Client a paid trial night is Required before any bookings may be confirmed (this means I cannot accommodate any last minute requests for New clients. Thanks! Hi I'm Kira! I'm a 36 year old from the Bay Area who loves animals! I am a full time professional Dog Walker. I was voted Best Oakland Dog Walker 2022 in Oakland Magazine. I am a graduate from the Dog Walking Academy (Dog*Biz). I am certified in Pet First Aid & CPR (DogSafe Canine First Aid). I would love to have your pup come stay in a safe, FUN and cozy atmosphere. Dog Boarding: I offer dog boarding in my home for well socialized pups. When I'm not on the trail with my dog walking clients I am home with my dog boarding clients giving them tons of attention. My house is very dog friendly and I have a GIANT fenced in backyard with lots of grass and tons of dog toys available. During the weekday your dog has full access to the house and the backyard which is massive. Exercise mainly happens in my backyard with the other boarding pups or some good tennis ball throwing sessions. Depending on your dog's leash manners, recall and energy level I will bring my boarders on a walking adventure on a trail or park but this depends on your dog's behavior and energy level. Weekends are generally filled with a long beach adventure or an off leash trail hike. I like to mimic your dog's at-home sleeping arrangement as much as possible and I am really flexible. The pups sleep in my bedroom either in their own dog bed or with me. I'm located near the Oakland International Airport, the Oracle Arena and the O.co Coliseum...Feel free to drop your pet off while you catch a game or head to the airport! Drop In Visits: I also offer drop in visits for cats or dogs (as well exotic pets like chickens, rabbits, snakes etc) who live within my service area. This includes poop pick up/kitty litter cleaning, feeding/medications and 15 minutes of play time/walk. Puppies: I charge a higher rate for any dog under 2 years old that still has puppy behaviors (you can determine if your dog falls under this category by coming for a meet and greet with me). Puppies take a lot more energy to engage and care for and are usually still learning what their human family expects of them. For puppies 6 months or younger I charge $90 a night and I will sometimes also ask for a deposit as property damage usually happens with dogs that young. My experience: I run my own dog walking company and work with dogs and their body language full time. I have been dog sitting for over 15 years and fostering dogs and cats for even longer. I have fostered senior dogs with Muttville as a way to give back to the community. I have fostered lots of puppies and kittens with the East Bay SPCA and Power of Chi Chihuahua Rescue. I am a past volunteer with Oakland Animal Services and I foster for them as well. I also used to work at a doggie daycare in San Francisco. I try to rescue as many cats and dogs as I can from the streets of East Oakland where I live. Dogs and cats have always been a part of my family growing up. I have experience with senior dogs who have mobility or vision issues. My house only has five steps at the entrance and four long steps in the backyard (and I'm happy to carry any seniors who can't manage that). I also have plenty of experience with shy pups who need some extra care and reassurance in order to relax. I do have experience with dogs with aggression issues, however I can not accommodate this type of dog (although I'm happy to do drop in visits at your home). If your dog needs their bladder expressed I am not the right fit as well. I do truly enjoy keeping pets occupied and comfortable while you are out of town. I am happy to give medications as needed (I know how to administer shots). I also have experience caring for bearded dragons, fish, turtles and cats (including administering oral medication to cats). I text photo updates every other day. I always have extra kibble, treats, dog beds and dog toys available to keep things fun and cozy. Our pets are family and I am happy to provide lots of love and support while you are out of town. My home will feel like your dog's Second Home. I look forward to meeting you and your pet! My Dog: My dog Bubba is an 12 year old neutered male Basset/Beagle mix (35 pounds). Bubba is the perfect fit for me since he is used to sharing the household and he gets along well with dogs of all breeds, energy levels and ages. When he meets new dogs he usually howls a little and acts tough and then he runs back to bed and returns to spending most of his time ignoring the other dogs and sleeping. Thanks for considering my services! Please message me if you have further questions.

This was our first time leaving behind our pup Olive and couldn’t have asked for a better sitter! Kira is super communicative, sends lots of pictures, and asks all the right questions. You can tell she cares for the dogs and she knows what she’s doing.

I just picked up my dog from her very first stay with Kira, and the entire experience was so great! Chloe was happy and relaxed when I arrived. I was happy and relaxed during the entire weekend, in spite of always having a lot of anxiety about leaving my dog with a new person. Kira was exceptionally communicative and sent lots of adorable photos and updates on Chloe's adventures! I asked for a little extra texting while away and she was very kind and happy to oblige me. At our initial meeting, I got to see her lovely, grassy backyard and she took ample time to answer my question (which are abundant). I never felt rushed or dismissed. I also got to meet a couple of her regulars so she could see how my dog does with other dogs. She asked questions while I was away, which reassured me as I knew she was paying careful attention to my dog. At pick-up she gave me a nice report on the weekend. Kira is clearly a real dog lover and this business for her love of furry beings! Her big yard is awesome! Her communication skills are top-notch! Chloe will definitely be staying with Kira this summer, and I am so happy to finally have found an "Aunty" for my dog! 5 stars!!

Kira was great with my kitties. From our first meet and greet they came right out to her, which is odd for them as they are usually super shy. Kira was responsive and helpful throughout the whole experience. She administered medication to my cat, and let me know every day what was done. She took pictures and sent them to me to show me that the kitties were doing great. I will definitely use Kira again when ever we need a kitty sitter!

Safety, trust & environment

Safety, Trust & Environment---------- When your dog stays with me it will be just as relaxed as if they were at home with you. I offer lots of treats and games to stimulate your dog and keep their focus on me and the other (possible) dogs around. My main goal is to keep your pup at ease and safe with tons of belly rubs. For shy dogs I am repectful of their boundaries and gain their trust hour by hour.

Information Kira L. would like to know about your pet

----- I no longer dog sit Huskies/Malamutes unfortunately due to previous attempts to escape and destroy property as well as non-stop vocalizations. I would like to know whether your dog has aggression issues and how they interact with other dogs.

A typical day

--------- A typical weekday your pup will have a chance play with other pups who are also boarding (If I have any others). Or they can snooze and rest the day away with my dog Bubba with full access to my home and yard. In the afternoons we will have a dog party play session and snuggle. I prefer not to take my boarders to dog parks on weekdays as I find my backyard can act as its own dog park (but with safer conditions as all the dogs are screened unlike public spaces). For Weekend boarders who demonstrate good recall and very polite behavior we will venture out to the beach for a longer romp. As a pro dog walker I feel it is important to really get to know your dog before attempting any off leash time.
