Pet care experience
I’m mama to one funny puppy, an interesting cat, and an inquisitive human child. I work part-time from home, and I have a very flexible schedule. I’ve been doing sporadic pet-sitting since college, and I’m enthusiastic about expanding this part of my life. Animals are my happy place. I appreciate personalities of all types - from the happy, slobbery dog that leans hard against you, to the cat who just likes to have you nearby - I find that they all recharge my soul. My 2 year old pup, Theory, is a Lagotto Romagnolo (truffle-hunting Italian water dog). As a working breed, he likes to keep busy. He loves training, so we spend a lot of time practicing his skills. Not jumping on people is once again one of his current projects, and we're always maintaining his hard-earned his leash skills. I believe that training should be positive and reward-based (whether a treat, or a 'good dog' and a pat), and I'm super happy to help you keep up with any training you're working on. I’ve attended training classes with my dog and past dog at Doggy Business and Wonder Puppy, as well as truffle scent training with a local search and rescue professional. I firmly believe in the Puppy Culture method of raising puppies, and particularly enjoy the book When Pigs Fly by the creator of Puppy Culture. My cat, Proton, is a Devon Rex with an interesting and super sweet personality. He’s a character, and everyone he meets loves him. He gets along just fine with dogs, but can be hesitant at first. He doesn’t like to be chased. He’s a pacifist who won’t do much to protect himself - he will trot away, meow for help, or use a claw-retracted paw to gently bop anyone who is getting fresh with him. I’d love to help you care for your dog and/or cat when you’re not available. I very much appreciate your trust in me, and I want to make sure you feel comfortable. A meet and greet with you and your pet is very much encouraged! Oh, and I'm all about gratuitous pet pictures, if that's your thing.
Reviews
Thank you thank you for takibg such sweet great care of my Emmy!
Always professional and consistent! Penny is happy again.
I feel like I hit the lottery when I found Kimberly on Rover. She is all of things you would want in your pet sitter - communicative, reliable, thorough, sends lots of photos and updates. My cat doesn’t warm up to people easily and she adores Kimberly. Highly recommend.
Our kitties love Kimberly and I appreciate the thorough and sweet summary of her visits!

SAFETY & TRUST I emphasize taking all precautions to keep your animals safe. I enter client's homes calmly and carefully. I check that harnesses and collars are properly adjusted for a snug fit, and I inspect leash connections before beginning any walk. I also always confirm that doors and gates are properly latched and locked, as needed. It's important to me that I am trustworthy and reliable to not just you, but also your pet(s). Therefore, I aim to be calm and predictable when in your home or out on a walk. If it suits your furry companion, I'm also very happy to give them affection.
Information Kimberly G. would like to know about your pet
I don’t have any breed preferences, but would like to know your animal’s preferences. Is your cat an escape artist? Is there anything that makes your dog uncomfortable? May your dog have treats? Please be upfront about any concerns you may have. I would like to know anything that will help make our walk or visit a great one!
A typical day
When walking dogs, I try to follow their typical routine, and I aim to have their exercise and mental stimulation needs met. Please let me know if you'd prefer them to keep a pretty good walking pace, stop at all corners, or if you'd like to let them just explore and sniff until their heart is content. I'm super happy to continue any training you are working on while I'm with your pet. If it suits them, I would also love to pet them and give them affection and attention, as well. I'M UNABLE TO OFFER DAYCARE AT THIS TIME. I have a fully fenced backyard with a good sized (for close-in Portland) grassy bit of space for romping. I only host one dog at my home at time. I am very hands-on with my doggy guests: supervising, helping them practice good behaviors, and reinforcing desirable behavior and respectful play. My maximum daycare day is 6 hours (with potential flexibility for adult dogs that don’t require as much hand holding for self-regulation). My friendly and energetic puppy loves to play host and to help tire out your pup. If your dog isn’t into playing, my dog can take a hint and go lay down. It’s also easy to make separate spaces in my home. I generally mandate a quiet mid-day naptime if the dogs are playing a bunch and not taking breaks on their own.
