Trainer with 30 + yrs experience

Pet care experience

As a semi-retired Army veteran & homemaker, I’m blessed to be able to turn my passion and experience with animals into a service for others. I am a full-time canine au pair and trainer who works from home. My 30 years of experience with animals includes everything from canines, cats and horses to exotic birds. I’ve trained everything from police dogs to service dogs, and average pets to special needs dogs including deaf, blind, and reactive. I can handle them all! ✨I also provide training, nutrition consults and behavior modification services upon request. Please contact me for more info ✨ Like kids, dogs need more than just play and cuddles. They also need structure, safety, nurturing and guidance. Our lil house wolves have primal instincts that need to be fulfilled, otherwise it comes out as destructive and undesirable behavior. I spend quality time with each dog, getting to know them and what makes them tick. My experience gives me insight to tailor each day’s activities to your dog’s needs. Got a social butterfly? We have a secure yard to play! A reactive or fearful dog? Not a problem. An athlete? We have a doggy gym. A destructive smarty pants? I custom make puzzles! A rambunctious pup who is learning house manners? I ADORE puppies and would love to help! This place is actually my childhood home 💕and has always been a sanctuary for animals. I have a large secure yard, double barriers and everything from toys and puzzles to doggy pools and a full on doggy gym. My property and lifestyle is geared towards accommodating four legged friends. I provide scheduled activities including supervised playtime, confidence building exercises and working for food with enrichment toys. Balance is important so when indoors, I encourage fostering a calm state of mind with supervised crate and down time with chews. (Think of nap time for kids in daycare) My own muttly crew “The Bad Wolves” is a rag tag team of rescues, “rejects” & surrenders. I have a senior (28 years old) special needs Amazon parrot—Jaqués and three dogs—Izzy—a German Shepherd, Ember—a Dutch Shepherd/Belgian Malinois, and Koa Bean—a French Bulldog. All pups were trained/rehabbed by me and all are titled in AKC obedience. Izzy also does service and therapy work, Ember trains in French ring sport, Bomba trains in agility and Koa is an AKC certified trick dog! I take a holistic approach to animal care—focusing on mental AND physical well-being. So whether it's a walk, a visit or a stay, I promise to treat your baby with the same love and care as I do mine. EXPERIENCE: 🐾Balanced trainer with no breed, age, or size restrictions 🐾30 years working with dogs of all breeds—training, fostering and rescuing. 🐾Experienced with blind, deaf, disabled, anxious and/or reactive dogs 🐾Comfortable working with powerful, high drive dogs including sport, personal protection and property guardians. 🐾Completed master’s dissertation on service dogs 🐾Trained in canine nutrition

A typical day

TYPICAL DAY: •All dogs receive one on one time, whether it’s a simple game of fetch, cuddling or tricks for treats! I believe in building a relationship and trust through play/interaction. During individual play I provide interactive puzzle toys or whatever toy/game your dog likes best! •Dogs who are social and get along are given the opportunity to play outside under supervision. • Enrichment tools ensure pups are exercised and mentally stimulated, even in bad weather. •For walks, we go around Magnolia Park neighborhood in Burbank where there are plenty of dog friendly stores, a walking trail and clean safe parks with lots of grass. •The art of chill—we believe in cultivating a calm state of mind too •During down time dogs may chill out on one of many orthopedic doggy beds in our living room, sleep in their crates or hang with us on the couch. We also have structured crate time with natural chews like moose paddles and buffalo horns for mental stimulation and dental care.
