Kim Danielson’s sensitivity and ability to connect with animals are some of the strongest impressions I have from the four years while she lived next door as my renter, neighbor, and friend. She takes on all her responsibilities with dedication, and especially toward the creatures in her care. I’ve seen her loving attention to her aging dog, Kona, as well as her caring custody for dogs that she was dog-sitting for others. Kim demonstrated a talent to focus on a pet’s immediate needs within the broader picture of what was required for their safekeeping. Kim’s 6th sense about animals became most apparent when I would visit her at her annual winter stint at a remote cattle ranch, where she was “mid-wife” to the herd during the 3 month calving season. Getting up in the middle of a cold, rainy night because she sensed something awry, she would track down a mother with newborn calf mired in the mud, or to reunite an abandoned twin with a mother who didn’t realize she’d given birth to more than one offspring. Concern for creatures both domestic and wild is woven into Kim’s nature, as well as a practical capacity that makes her deserving of the trust that she will follow through with the attention they need. And, most basically, I know it gives her joy to be with animals – a key piece to why I think she’s an excellent candidate for the Rover Team.

I am Kim's father. She was raised with our dogs and she has had several dogs of her own in her life. She has been a loving and caring parent to hers and our dogs. She is very trustworthy and has a strong ethic for caring for animals. She has worked for several years as the sole caretaker at a cattle farm where she was responsible for feeding the cows and caring for calves as they are born. She has demonstrated a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility for caring for the animals. People will be very comfortable with her caring for their dogs.
