I understand the compassion and sometimes patience it takes to truly care for an animal. I've had to travel around the world and back (military) with a very skittish and anxious but loving Great Dane who quickly became my first child. We have since added another Great Dane, a Belgian Malinois, a rescue from Guam, a rescue from Mississippi, and a family dog that was no longer able to be properly cared for. I frequently care for my friends' animals while they are away from home, and I have had experience caring for animals as a Vet Tech. In addition, I live with a prior military working dog handler who often teaches me things about healthy communication with our furry children. Also, I cannot say with confidence that I haven't brought home strays here and there and properly cared for them :).
