These hands were made for petting

Pet care experience

As a child, I always knew I wanted to be around animals. It was a goal of mine to work with animals. As an adult, I achieved that goal when I worked at Pet Supermarket and now using Rover.

We were very happy with our experience. Loved getting the pics of Kierstin’s little boy playing with Millie.

Thanks to Kierstin for taking such good care of Rocky. He was super tired when he got home, which means he must have had a great time!

While I am grateful to have found a sitter close by to take my dog for the better part of a week, am sad to say I am not entirely pleased. The following points explain: 1) I had thought there would be a person in the home most of the waking hours. Turns out, Kierstin and her husband James both work full time and that meant that one of the days Freeway would necessarily be alone for some 8 hours. I did not learn this until after we had headed out of town. I expressed that Freeway has never been alone more than 5 hours; this would be especially stressful for him while with new people. 2) The first day Freeway had diarrhea which may have been due to the stress of the change. 3) I provided plenty of food for the five days, along with treats and Greenies. Actually included extra. Evidently the other dog in the home ate Freeway's food--it isn't known how much he/she got or when but there was none left--apparently he tore up the Ziploc bag it was in as well. 4) Upon dropping Freeway off with James (Kierstin was working) on Day 1, I gave him explicit instructions about feeding Freeway the right amount, in the morning; about his 5 pm. Greenie, and treats during the day along with play suggestions. The first day Kierstin texted that he'd eaten "all his dinner". I explained we don't feed Freeway dinner... we keep a very predictable schedule for him, eating in the morning, walking, etc. I reiterated this after the text. However, when I picked Freeway up this morning and got him home he went after his water and food voraciously--clearly very thirsty, and had he had breakfast, he'd never have eaten another full serving as he did. 5) Most significant, however, is that Freeway smelled of some sort of perfume (said to be shampoo) and his bed was wet and also smelled of laundry detergent or softener or something. I was told that Freeway pee'd in his bed and slept in it! Sorry. This is not possible unless he was left alone WAY beyond his bladder capacity. He sleeps through the night for us, has breakfast by 8, walk by 9 and his treats throughout the day and has water always available. He has NEVER pee'd his bed and his ONLY accidents have been our own fault if we've not managed to take him out on schedule. Freeway is a 6-year old dog--not a puppy. There's no way, unless he is sick, that he'd lose control. He's not sick. He is, understandably, "subdued" which I'm sure is owing to the change of us being gone for 5 days. Kierstin and James were understanding and accommodating with our several flight delays getting back a day later than expected, and they nicely did not charge the extra day because of the mishap with the other dog eating Freeway's food. They also kindly washed Freeway and his bedding and these acts are appreciated. I would suggest that this couple take very seriously the instructions of the pet owners and follow them as best they can because this is what makes changes like this the least stressful to the animal. Again, I appreciate that they did accommodate us and I hope this is taken as a learning opportunity. Thank you. Holly Carlson

Safety, trust & environment

I will always provide at least one photo of your pet. Depending on how much time I spend with them, you will likely receive more because I enjoy photographing pets! I make it a priority to keep open and honest communication so you can have extra assurance of your pet’s safety. In the past, I have provided boarding services but moving forward I will be providing walking, drop-in visits, and daycare. Now that I have a child, I prefer not to keep dogs while he is home for both his and your dog’s comfort and safety.

Information Kierstin S. would like to know about your pet

I would appreciate having your regular routine in writing so that I am able to keep it consistent and comfortable for your pet. If they eat at certain times and go outside at certain times, these are important details. If they take any medications, I will need the dosage and time they typically take the medication.

A typical day

When I watch your pet, I will be happy to play with them in the same ways they enjoy playing with you! If they love to play fetch, then we will play fetch. If they love to run, then we will run. If they enjoy a slow and steady walk, then we will have a slow and steady walk.

Availability

I receive my work schedule about two weeks prior to the start of each month. As I receive my work schedule, I will update my Rover schedule accordingly. I am almost always available in the evenings. I am typically available all day 2-4 days a week. I work in a 24-hour facility so my schedule is not always consistent month to month. Because of this, I cannot offer recurring services but my availability will always be accurate. Please reference my availability calendar for the most updated information. My availability is currently accurate to November 30, 2023.
