I've had my own dogs for over 25 years, and have cared for friends' dogs on countless occasions. I have learned much about dog behavior, and am so grateful to trainers like Patricia McConnell and Sophia Yin, whose books have taught me the power of positive reinforcement for dog training. For a year, I co-fostered a very active and strong young coonhound mix who had been returned to a shelter FIVE times in the first year of her life for problem behaviors. She is now a lovely, well-behaved dog who lives a happy life in New York City. I have experience with clicker-trained dogs, teaching "pullers" to walk without tension in the lead, and taking care of senior dogs. We have a large crate, but will also accept dogs who are not crate-trained.
