I worked at the Boulder Humane Society as a behavior and health coordinator and in the animal welfare industry for 10 years. I have been housesitting a variety of pets for many clients in Boulder and Denver counties for over 15 years, many of whom are repeat customers or referrals from repeat customers. I have experience with diabetes and medication needs, positive reinforcement training and behavior modifications, fearful dogs and cats, leash reactivity, aggression issues, deaf dogs, preparing raw diets, and am super active which means your pup will get a lot of great exercise. I believe in positive reinforcement and the use of humane walking tools. I used to have a deaf cattle dog, a dog aggressive great dane, and a golden retriever with separation anxiety - I've seen it all! I don't have any breed biases. I do work during the day, so puppies and some small dogs may not be ideal if your request is during the week as they require more frequent potty breaks (though some of my clients just get someone to come walk during the day when I'm at work). I also have experience with cats, chickens, ducks, and horses - I've been around animals my entire life. My own pup is happy to come with me if your dogs want a new friend (she's very well behaved and plays great with other dogs and ignores cats) or she stays at home with my housemate. My rates are a little higher than some, but you are paying for a TON of experience with all sorts of medical and behavioral needs who is also trustworthy, clean, adaptable, and friendly. I keep my cool in any stressful situation and am great at understanding your pets' needs so I can make them feel as comfortable, loved, and anxiety free when you're away. I will consider discounts for multiple dog homes for extended stays (they don't give that option when setting rates). If you have feline friends, please remember to add them in - their litterboxes will be super clean when you return and they will be equally cared for. Also - in the event something comes up that requires extra work, I may require an additional fee (e.g., cleaning up diarrhea, bathing dogs, etc.).
