Pet care experience

My main inspiration for becoming a pet sitter is my love for animals -- it is a true passion of mine. I've always wanted to work with pets and make sure they are always safe and cared for. I worked for Wag for a few months, but once I found out about Rover and realized what Rover stood for, that it’s not just an app but a family, I wanted to work with them. I like being able to board dogs and having them play with my puppy, Mel, a 1-year-old Shih-Tzu, and enjoy a different environment. I’m also willing to stay in the owner’s home if that is where a pup is most comfortable. I also love to walk dog and and just hang around with them. In any situation, I find it incredibly rewarding when someone trusts me to take care of their best friend. I have had dogs ever since I can remember and I have experience with Shih-Tzus, Poodles, German Shepherds, Chihuahuas, Dachshunds and Huskies. I am experienced with taking care of big dogs and tiny ones, ranging in age from 3 months to 7 years. I have potty trained all of my dogs as well as obedience training. I live in the North Andover neighborhood near Boston in Massachusetts. It is a great neighborhood that is calm and quiet and incredibly diverse. If your pup stays with me I think they will love the neighborhood parks, or we could even take a walk to the beach. I also have a spacious fenced backyard that’s great for running around and playing. I also make sure that any pup is safe and secure in the backyard so any attempted escapes will be thwarted! Dogs can get nervous while staying at a place that might be strange to them and if they start having accidents I will work on potty training and I will show them I am here and that nobody will hurt them. My dog was abused when he was young, so I know how to deal with a dog who is nervous and afraid. I am Brazilian and speak three languages and I am currently working on my fourth. Some people say I am young for all the things I have accomplished, but I like meeting my goals and being independent. I also am the type of person who gets a job and commits to it. If I take care of your pup, I will be sure to provide them the care and attention they need and deserve. I will spend time with your pup learning what their likes and dislikes and would be sure to take them out for some exercise and playtime. I also work from home which allows me to dedicate my time to caring for your pet.

Keyla stayed with our Toby for a week and really saved our necks, because the two sitters we had booked before cancelled last minute. She did a terrific job with him, sending us pictures every day and making sure that he felt loved and taken care of. She followed all of our instructions and was very professional, and she even cleaned before she left our place, which was totally unnecessary but also really thoughtful. Toby's a pretty needy and energetic dog, which can be a lot for some people, even those who are experienced with dogs. So if you have a dog like that you can rest assured that Keyla knows how to handle them. Toby loved her and we can't wait to work with her again!

Keyla is a definite dog lover! Keyla was gentle and kind to our two “girls”. It was a very long dog sitting, about 3 weeks, so it wasn’t easy, I’m sure, but Keyla was committed to keeping our girls happy and safe at our home, her home and even took them to their favorite dog spa when needed. A mega blizzard came through during the New Year but Keyla was in constant communication with us throughout the storms, so my mind was at ease. Throughout the stay, we had good and clear communication. We also appreciated that Keyla was flexible with bringing the girls to her house when needed. Our girls loved her huge yard. I also appreciated that Keyla really took good care of our home when she stayed over. The girls adored Keyla!

Keyla is the most responsible and caring human being I know. She cares about others, and her passion is dogs. She loves working with them, if needed she bends over backwards to ensure the pets in her care are happy and well taken care of. I fully trust Keyla with everything. She is very reliable and responsible, caring and loving.

Information Keyla P. would like to know about your pet

I like to meet the dog and slowly and calmly introduce myself so they can begin to trust me. I have experience with a lot of different breeds, but I do know every dog is different so I would like to know about your pet’s routine, what their favorite games are and if they have any special needs like anxiety that I need to pay particular attention to.

A typical day

I live in the Everett neighborhood of Massachusetts, which is near Boston. We have a large fenced backyard which is perfect for playing any kind of game! Our neighborhood is also quiet and calm, with plenty of nearby park so taking walks is always fun and relaxing. I also like heading over to the beach -- that could be another adventure for us! I like to go running, so if you have an energetic pup that needs to burn off some extra energy, they can accompany me on one of my runs. I also work from home, so my schedule allows me to dedicate my time to taking care of your pup.
