Gonna be best pals w/ your dog!!!!!

Pet care experience

Through either the companion animals my wife and I have welcomed into our home, or through the work I did at the local animal shelter as both a kennel attendant and volunteer, one of my few passions in life is providing care to and spending time with animals. For a number of years, I lived with companion rabbits—our time with them taught me a lot of patience, and gave me a heightened sense of when something might be wrong with their health. For a few years we lived with a special needs cat, and we currently are living with an Olde English Bulldog—all of these animals are of course different, for myriad reasons, but they also have a number of similarities in the personalities that if you spend enough time around them, you'll grow to see and understand. The time I spent as a volunteer and attendant at the shelter was a great lesson in how to be efficient and effective in tending to a number of animals at once—sometimes upwards of 20 cats that all needed their areas cleaned, food and water refreshed, and sometimes given medication. As a volunteer I worked with especially shy and frightened animals who had recently been surrendered and were not adjusting well to life at the shelter. This, like my own time living with rabbits, was the chance to learn more patience, and work with an animal until they open up more.

Kevin looked after my four rabbits recently, and he did a great job!! Everybun was happy and healthy when I got home, and I enjoyed the photos and updates while I was away. My rabbits are my children, and it is very important to me to find someone who understands the needs and care of rabbits, and I was in safe hands with Kevin, as he has had rabbit companions in the past, and also supports rabbit rescue, which is very important to me. I would not hesitate to recommend Kevin as a sitter for your beloved pet.

I have been a caretaker for Kevin's animals (rabbit, cat, and...snail) several times. I consider this an honor because Kevin takes this role very seriously, and it shows that he trusts me. Kevin considers every animal an individual with dignity, and he is attentive to their unique needs. I am certain he will extend the same consideration to any dog in his care. He is also perfectly punctual and detail-oriented. He'll make a great guardian and walking buddy for some dog friends.

Kevin cares deeply about animals and it shows in how attentive and patient he is when he interacts with them. Kevin has a rescue bulldog of his own and it is wonderful to see the joy that playing, walking and simply being with his dog brings him. Kevin has volunteered and worked at an animal shelter and has cared for animals with a variety of different needs. He is extremely reliable, trustworthy and proactive and goes above and beyond in providing safe and enjoyable environments and interaction with each dog and animal he meets!

Safety, trust & environment

In my own home, I more or less put an animal's needs ahead of my own. If I were to check in on an animal of any kind in someone else's home, I would be respectful of their house rules, and also try to get to know the animal within their own space and interact with them there.

Information Kevin K. would like to know about your pet

I understand what it is like leaving your animal in the care of someone else, even if it's just for a little bit, for a walk or playing for a short amount of time. Basically any information you can think to give me about your animal, I'll take it! Favorite toys, treats, activities, behavioral things I might need to know, quirks, special things I need to do in the house, etc. I want to make the person and the dog feel confident with my abilities.

A typical day

After getting to know the dog or animal in question, I would ask their person what kind of activities they enjoy the most, and then focus on those—either walks, or playing with specific toys.

** My availability is not as open as it used to be when I started this profile in December. Just a heads up about that to anyone looking at it! I am free Mondays and Wednesday literally all day to help out your buddies, and then Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, I would be available to do things in the late afternoon and evening if you need them. I started working three days a week from the early morning until 1 p.m. If you have questions about my schedule and how I can help with taking care of your animal pal, just ask!
