Pet care experience
I used to work at a doggy day care, Fun City Dogs. I worked there for about 3 years before I decided to continue pet sitting full time. During my time at Fun City Dogs I have grown knowledgable about dog behavior and what kind of care each individual dog may need. I also learned valuable information about pet cpr and how to manage multiple dogs at a time. They have provided excellent training videos to help me improve my care for dogs. Before I started working there I dog/house sat after I graduated high school. Though I have never owned a dog, I have always been passionate about the care and training of these beloved pets. I do work a day or two at a cafe in South Minneapolis, but I always have plenty of free time to spend with your dog. I love spoiling them with affection and maybe a few extra treats. I am sad to have to write this review, as Kenzie has dog sat for our dogs nearly three years now! The last couple times there has been a change. Recently, on December 2019 into the first week of January 2020, our experience was horrific. After reaching out to her via email allowing her to address these concerns, because her phone was no longer in service, she chose to ignore both of our emails. In our emails we addressed the smell of marijuana, our neighbors in the adjoining duplex needing to leave for two nights because of the loud noise from Kenzie and her friends, numerous people coming in and out of our home, and them out smoking and being loud in the backyard at all hours of the night. After seeing the post from someone in September 2019, and the fact that after not many hours rover had to replace her with another sitter, I feel I have to write this review. I’m hoping this is just a period of rough times that Kenzie is going through. I think it is important that people know what we’ve experienced, before choosing to invite her into their home. Not only were these concerns, but one of our dogs was out of sorts several days after we got home. This was new behavior.
Kenzie was a great sitter! She was so wonderful with our dogs and obviously loves pets. She was a great communicator - I especially appreciated this because our puppy wound up needing emergency surgery a week before she came, and Kenzie was great about understanding her extra needs and medications. I also so appreciated her keeping the house so clean and even laundering the bedding on her way out! I'd definitely hire her again.
Kenzie is fantastic! She stayed in our home with our high maintenance dog, a geriatric cat that requires daily meds, and our busybody kitten. She took great care of everyone and the house, communicated frequently, and sent daily updates and pics. We were able to relax and enjoy our getaway knowing she was at our home. Thanks, Kenzie!
I’m shocked that the same person with these 5 star reviews is the same person who watched my dogs. I have two Great Danes - a 4 year old and a puppy who is almost 4 months. Puppies are a lot of work, therefore for I left incredibly detailed care instructions for Kenzie to follow in order to keep our puppy on her schedule and avoid any dangerous situations. Additionally, during our meet and greet I clearly stated that because of our puppies age, we needed a sitter that would be home with our dogs the majority of the time. The first night Kenzie arrived, she was only in the house for 15 minutes before leaving again despite knowing the dogs had been cooped up for a long time that day in order to accommodate her work schedule. She was gone for over 2 hours to go get dinner. I had to text Kenzie and ask here where she was in order to get her back home with the dogs. Then, in the morning when our dogs woke up at 7am, Kenzie couldn’t be bothered to get up with them. She left our puppy uncrated and unsupervised for nearly two hours while she was upstairs sleeping (which in our care notes is specifically stated not to do). During this time our puppy was crying by our back door to go out to potty, and presumably had to go so badly and was so confused that she began digging through drywall by the back door. We are now left with the repairs and no apology from Kenzie. Kenzie was only at our house for 11 hours before we asked her to leave. We had to work with Rover to find an emergency sitter, which made for a stressful vacation. Kenzie has great reviews, so maybe this was an anomaly, but if your dog needs to be kept on a schedule or is a puppy, proceed with caution.
