Growing up in the mountains near Pikes Peak, my family's dog, Simba, taught me the necessities of caring for dogs as well as the joys and companionship they provide. I helped care for him increasingly from when he was a puppy, through his tougher, later years until the end of his life. Five years ago I adopted a Husky/Akita puppy (Nesta) from the local shelter, providing new knowledge on caring for dogs from troubled pasts/with sensitivities. When I adopted her she had severe food sensitivities, was malnourished, and came from a place where she was abused by both humans and other dogs, giving her extreme anxiety, fear, and at times aggression. She is now my happy, healthy best friend with no signs of past abuse! That said, I'm comfortable with all kinds of dogs of different temperaments/ages, and I will care for your dog as my own, like family!
