HELLO! 🐾  My name is Kennedy and I am a student studying at Georgia Southern University as a Pre-Veterinary major. Since I am a full time student, I have free time throughout my week and weekend to dedicate time to taking care of all my furry and non-furry friends! I have taken care of animals my entire life from my own dogs and cats to family and friends' animals as needed and have developed a passion of taking care of all species. Since I am studying animal medicine, I am everyone's go to sitter from quick drop-ins to long week vacation trips! A fun fact about me: 🐾  I am a reptile enthusiast and dream of specializing in exotic animal medicine. I was able to use this enthusiasm when I interned with the Sea Turtle conservation center in Bali, Indonesia tracking the green back sea turtle population and releasing the species back into the wild after hatching. Professional Experience: 🐾  When moving to Savannah, I was welcomed with open arms into the Humane Society of Greater Savannah as a Veterinary Assistant, where I discovered my love of animal medicine as a true passion. During my time in the medical department, I learned how to prepare animals for surgery, perform IVs and blood work, administer vaccines and oral medications, and conduct overall treatment and rehabilitation for animals of all various types of medical concerns. Also, I worked alongside an animal behavior specialist to learn how to work with the most aggressive animal to the most shy to evaluate their needs and brainstorm training plans to prepare them for their future homes. With my experience, I am confident to take on any animal, no matter the circumstance, and fulfill their needs to make the most out of our interaction. At home, I have 2 cats named Koi and Otter, 2 dogs named Jax and Kona, and 2 snakes named Houdini and Laveau. All of my animals are rescues besides Laveau; she was raised as a hatchling and is still undergoing handling training. When at home, I love to take my dogs on walks around the neighborhood while teaching my youngest pup how to appropriately walk on a leash without tugging. We also have a huge back yard for playing fetch and relaxing on the deck while the cats relax near the screen porch.
