Specializing in behavior & R+ ❤️

Pet care experience

+R // positive-reinforcement, fear-free & force-free dogsitter ** We will no longer charge if you have more than 2 dogs during housesitting bookings! It's the base rate + reduced for the second dog, then $0 (if you have cats in a home with dogs, I'll reduce the cat charge to $0; I keep the "cat fee" for homes where I'm only visiting cats). Watch out when you're booking, MANY petsitters on here charge the base rate for every pet and it adds up fast!! (If it charges extra for your additional dogs, puppy or cat beyond the 2 dogs, I'll edit this to $0) ** Hi! We're Kelsey & Val. We're happy to help make sure your companion is loved and cared for while you're away! A little about us: Kelsey works from home, was on the board of a local animal shelter's non-profit, was on the board and a founding member of a local rescue & outreach initiative, and formerly a contracted dogsitter through a local positive-reinforcement force-free training company. Kelsey started shadowing classes for fun and toward training hours, and actively works on training with our own dogs. Val has retired from dogsitting in order to best support the needs of our dogs (with special exceptions). She has always lived with big dogs (she has a soft spot for Golden Retrievers, Newfoundlands, and pitbulls). We've both lived with dogs our entire lives, and happily share the companionship of a bossy Aussie and a dopey-but-lovable Newfoundland. We have experience and knowledge reading canine body language and working with anxious and fearful dogs (experience gained through working on training with our own late dog, through working with the R+ trainer toward trainer hours, and in shelter systems). We approach watching your companions with respect, toward you and your furry family member. We love dogs, and we work to earn their trust during meet & greets (we can do more than one meet if we both feel your pet would benefit from this) and make their time spent with us comfortable and pleasant. We love your older animals, and we're happy to watch your fun-loving puppies too! We love providing enrichment, and always bring good snacks with us (but please let us know about any allergies). While in your home, we ensure you come back to your house exactly the way you left it, down to throwing any bedding we use in the wash before we leave. We know how intimidating it can be to leave your dog in the care of someone who might not understand them or their behaviors; I am the dogsitter I wish I could hire. We started using Rover in May 2017 to bridge a gap we saw in sitters on Rover. We hope you find we're your perfect match, and to meet you and your furry family soon. ❤️

Kelsey did an great job with Kona and Maui. Lots of communication during her stay at our house (including cute pics). Everyone was happy upon our return. Would definitely have Kelsey stay again in the future.

Kelsey was amazing! She stayed at my home for 4 nights and took incredible care of my sweet rescue pittie Lady. I love that she has so much experience with the breed and using positive reinforcement. She sent lots of cute pictures while we were gone too. Will definitely be requesting her again in the future!

Kelsey is awesome! Highly recommend her. Our dog is a rescue with anxiety and reactivity and Kelsey was perfect with her. She did several meet and greets to ensure our dog's comfort prior to staying with her. She understands dog behavior and body language and positive reinforcement. Kelsey also provided daily updates and sent pictures as well. We will absolutely be requesting Kelsey again for future trips. Thank you!

Kelsey was amazing. She was through and I felt completely at ease while I was away. When I returned the house was exactly and I left it, my pet was happy and healthy.

Safety, trust & environment

I enjoy hanging out with your dogs and making their lives feel normal. Most (if not all) clients find that their dogs benefit from staying in their own home rather than being boarded, from a mental wellness standpoint.

Information Kelsey R. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know about any behavioral or medical needs your dog has upfront. This helps me to best prepare for our time together and make sure I care for their needs holistically.

A typical day

We like to keep your dog's routine as close to normal as we can! Given that having us in your dog's space is already a new experience, we want them to feel comfortable and like they don't suddenly have a new owner. Anything we can do to make things feel normal, we do.
