I have a warm heart for cold noses.

Pet care experience

I have been a foster parent for animal shelters for the past 5 years and have been heavily involved with the animal behavior teams at Capital Area Humane Society, Michigan Humane Society, and Seattle Humane. I have extensive dog walking and fostering experience through my work with dogs at rescues and am prepared to use those skills to care for your fur children.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a fenced-in backyard and two pups of my own who are very well-socialized and friendly with people, dogs, and cats. It is important to me that your animals are happy and receives personal care that fits their needs and preferences. I maintain a balanced approach of providing exercise, enrichment (puzzles/facilitated activities), and unstructured time where your pet can decide what they want to do. I also make an effort to facilitate calm time on the sofa or dog beds to ensure your pet has an opportunity to rest and decompress. Having had a poor experience with a Rover sitter for my own pups recently, I am very sensitive to ensuring you as the pet parent are very informed and updated on what is happening with your pets. I am very communicative and send pictures/updates throughout the day to ensure you feel comfortable with the care your pet is receiving.

Information Kelsey H. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if your animal has any kind of disabilities, dietary restrictions, or behavioral challenges. I have a special needs animal of my own so I know meeting those needs can be a priority and I like the extra time to prepare.

A typical day

Outside of the typical walks and backyard playtime, I have an enrichment bin full of puzzles, Kongs, lick/snuffle mats, and interactive toys. It is a priority for me to meet the animal where they are and offer enrichment items and exercise routines that match their ability and interest level.

I'm currently home full-time 6 days a week (except for Thursdays). I have a very active lifestyle and spend a lot of my free time walking on nearby trails and visiting the dog park with my own pups. I spend a few hours on the weekends helping out Seattle Humane to remain brushed up on the latest animal training and care techniques. Other than those recurring obligations, I am flexible to provide the care and attention your pet needs.
