I have been around dogs all my life. When I was young my sister and I would help my parents take care of our dogs. Dogs have always brought me such joy and happiness because they have the ability to give such unconditional love. And they give this love without expecting much in return. This kind of selflessness is quite rare, which is why it is so important for us humans to cherish these amazing creatures. Our first dog, Nikki, was a cockapoo and he was one of the smartest dogs I’ve ever known. He and I were inseparable; he was a sweet little pup who liked to cuddle, and play on occasion. Like many dogs, he wasn’t very excited about taking baths. He quickly learned the word bath and would run and hide whenever he heard us say it. In an effort to get around him making a fuss, my mom began saying bath in French. But of course, he was so clever and he started to understand this new language! Bath time was always an ordeal but I loved watching him race around the house after his bath attempting to dry himself off on the couch. I recognize leaving your pet to go to work or to go on a trip is an ordeal all on its own, and allowing someone you don’t know to come into their space and care for them can be equally as hard. But it is precisely because of these difficulties that I am on Rover. I work hard to understand and read how each animal I come across is perceiving me and I do whatever it takes to make them feel comfortable and safe. I hope to get the chance to do the same with your pets!
