No Concrete, No Cages, Just Cuddles

Pet care experience

Hello, my name is Kelsey. My husband's name is Manny and together we have a doggy daycare and boarding facility as well as offering various drop in's/walks, house-sitting, etc. We're located outside of Forest City on an acreage. So, a little about me; I've been working with animals my entire life. I grew up attending the local 4H program which taught me various skills with all types of animals! From bathing horses and cattle, to performing the Heimlich maneuver on dogs and cats. I'm trained in CPR (animal and human). I've delivered cattle, puppies, and kittens, I can administer medications, and IVs, surgery aftercare, and repair minor wounds. I've done volunteer work with various agencies in the North Iowa area including all the local animal shelters, Harmony Ranch of Clear Lake (a non-profit organization servicing local clientele with equestrian therapies), and have personally made trips to both Oklahoma and Texas to rescue dogs from kill shelters. I've owned, fostered, studied, and trained dogs, cats, and horses of all sizes and breeds, from newborn to senior, from happy-go-lucky to scared and aggressive. We have 18 acres of land here that we've spent a lot of time and love cleaning up to create kind of a puppy (and human) paradise. We've carved out several walking paths both wooded and non, and about 10 of those acres are pasture where we take pups out on 40 & 50-foot leashes so they have lots of freedom while maintaining an extra level of safety. We also have shallow ponds for those pups who do like to dip their toes but can certainly avoid them for those who don't care for the water and we try to go for as many walks as possible with the pups while they're in our care. We have individual, cage-free, doggy suites inside our home if needed but we really try to stick to a more normal at-home environment where the dogs are out and about, with us, allowed on the furniture, have access to our big "toy boxes", and have freedom. Our entire downstairs family room is a puppy playroom with lots of toys, where they can all play together and we're in the process of turning our attached (heated and cooled) garage into another puppy playroom! We provide several daily walks, applicable socialization, and stimulating entertainment for your fur baby. Our goal is to keep every pet active with appropriate exercise, and mentally stimulating games/activities. Medications: We administer medications and medical treatments regularly. Just let us know what your needs are and we're happy to accommodate!

Kelsey and Manny took good care of my special needs beagle. She's blind and diabetic and is a lot of work but she came home happy and healthy. It was nice to know that she was in capable hands with someone who has experience with injection medication. I would be delighted to have Kelsey watch Remington again in the future. Thank you for helping to make my vacation relaxing and enjoyable.

Our pup loves going to Kelsey’s place. He even got to sleep with her son just like he does at home with our kids. Thanks again for treating our dog like your own.

Had to leave our big baby to go to a wedding and could not be happier with how Kelsey and Manny took care of our dog. They treated him like a member of their family the entire time we were gone. If we ever have to leave our dog again it would definitely be with them.

Safety, trust & environment

While I do have dogs and a cat inside my house, they are all kept separate until we're able to give them slow, proper introductions. They're kept separate until they become familiar with one another, and there is immediate and direct supervision. Although your fur-baby may do alright without a leash at home, we leash every dog, every time we go outside, without exception. We have a play area, which is fenced in, but they're kept on a leash until secured within the fence. We have a security system, 24/7 fire, and carbon monoxide monitoring, along with security cameras in place to ensure all of our clients are kept safe at all times.

Information Kelsey B. would like to know about your pet

Staying with us: When your fur baby stays with us they'll be in our home. Each pet gets individual attention while having the option to socialize with other pets (this isn't the case for every dog or cat, and that's okay with us, their comfort is our priority). While we'd love to have every pet out with us all the time interacting peacefully with one another, for the safety of all, we can't always do that. So, we do provide individual suites for your dog(s)/cats, when it's nap and or bedtime. At night, every guest is tucked in with a treat, soothing music, and night lights. Some of our guests have even slept with us in bed! We provide several daily walks, playtime with other pups (as tolerated of course), lots of toys, and all the cuddles we can get! Things to bring: We ask that all dogs have a collar and are brought on a leash, and cats are either leashed or in a crate - just to ensure everyone is safe! * Some of our guests sleep in a crate at home. If that applies to you, feel free to bring their crate, but we don't require them and we've got alternative options here. * Bring enough of their own food for their stay. We prefer that their food is labeled and measured, but we also provide different options for meals. * Bedding/blankets are NOT required! if you'd like to bring a blanket or a bed, we welcome it! Otherwise, we happily provide the rest. * Toys: totally optional! We've got plenty of toys and chews to go around, or feel free to bring your own! * Please let me know about any medical conditions, medication, special needs, or dietary restrictions. I'm very well-versed in animal medical care as well as psychology and will ensure that your pet is kept healthy, safe, and comfortable.
