All About The Dogs!

Pet care experience

**PLEASE READ MY HOUSE REQUIREMENTS BELOW ...WOOF! We have been rescuing/fostering dogs since 1994 rehoming over 2500 dogs through our non-profit....we have dedicated our home and life to homeless dogs! Hi, My name is Kelly and my husband is John...we had some friends that introduced us to Rover and thought we would be perfect candidates, as our home is already set up for dogs! With our qualifications of caring for dogs of all sizes and needs...we could help others enjoy their time away knowing their best friend is in good hands! Our home is completely dog safe cushions & dog beds in every room, doggy door for instant fenced in back yard access. The front door area is also fenced in with a courtyard so bolting dogs are not a problem and no fear of front door opening and a dog getting hit by a car. Water bowls are elevated, house is flat rambler in a nice neighborhood on Mercer Island. Dogs must love other dogs as we all live together in a pack. If your dog loves going to the dog park, they will love hanging with us! Dogs are fed twice a day and sleep wherever they want! Living in a pack means, when leader of the pack is not home, dogs must be put away, so I can only accept crate trained dogs. Our hours at work overlap so it is never a full day of crating...typically any where from 1-6 hours at a time, the average is 4 hours in a day. You do NOT need to provide a crate. Some of my requirements: *Neighbors will not tolerate barky barkers *Must be crate trained (4 hours in a day) *Please bag "EACH MEAL" in individual baggies I will return the baggies to you for next time! *Please only bring leash and food ONLY *Meet and Greets are done at my office on Mercer Island if everybody feels like a good fit initial meet we set a time good for both of us at my office ;o) My home and office are 5 minutes away from each other both on the Island * HOURS: I can meet as early 8a and as late as 9p...trying to help you get your best friend back and maybe even save you an extra night! *For the protection of your own dog, they should be up to date on vaccines including bordatella every 6 months *ALL DOGS MUST BE ALTERED.....NEUTERED OR SPAYED *Those looking to book me for Doggy Day Care....that is actually at my office drop/pick times are 0815 to 6p Monday through Friday....this service is more for peeps in a pinch of like a really long work day or having workers at the house that could be stressful etc not your typical day care of running and playing with other dogs ….they would just get to hang with me at work. We do have rotating fosters dogs that come and go. We also own our own business on Mercer Island & Bellevue for the past 32 years. We have been through just about every dog situation there is and more than happy to open our home to your dog so they are safe and happy while you are gone. We understand what it is like finding the right place for our own kids when we are away! We are open to all breeds and actually specialize in Chinese Shar Pei, Great Danes & Hairless breeds. Currently we own a Great Dane and Xolo(Mexican Hairless) & Mini Bull Terrier I am happy to send photo's while you are away so you know they are having a good time! Literally my whole world is dogs! Not only do I rescue and rehome, but I also show dogs, walk dogs, whelp homeless momma's, rehab, network dogs in other parts of the world find safety, spend all free time at the dog park, take any class I can to educate myself and my national holiday is The Westminster Dog Show! Any other questions please ask! About this sitter: My husband and I are owners of a 24 hour tow company for over 32 years. The past 24 years we have also dedicated our lives and home to rescuing homeless dogs. Why I love dog sitting I have loved all animals since I could walk and talk. My friends call me the Doggie-Lama......I have had dogs, cats, gerbils, fish, hermit crabs, frogs, turtles, ducks, rabbits, etc my whole childhood.......I acquired my first 2 shar pei in the late 80's though as a child I mainly grew up with german shepards and my first dog was a cock a poo. In the mid early 90's I started poking at animal rescue and help found and start Mercer Island Eastside Orphans & Waifs and in 1997 finally became a 501 3 C nonprofit and have proudly been the vice president to present. We rescue around 1500 cats a year and I am head of the dog division of MEOW and rescue around 60-100 dogs a year with help from my foster parents and volunteers for the entire northwest includingWA, OR & ID. We mainly rescue Chinese Shar Pei, Great Danes and all of the hairless type breeds. I also help the local humane society when a Momma dog shows up pregnant and I help her whelp her litter into the world in my make shift very large bathroom becomes a whelping box.....until the pups are old enough to get adopted....and she does not have the stress of raising her litter in a noisy stressful shelter. Meet my pets Our family consists of three girls, Lani our 16 year old Xoloitzquintle (Mexican Hairless) 18 pounds, Zippy our 7 year old Great Dane that is 147 pounds and Ricki Rockstar our 37 pound mini bull terrier. They are both spayed and up to date on shots. The little one, Lani, is the alpha! (we have no human kids) Though Zippy is a giant dog...Lani has taught her how to be very gentle with little dogs...Zip LOVES lil dogs and does not have an aggressive bone in her body. About my yard Have a huge 6ft wood solid fence enclosed yard...it backs up to a bird sanctuary so lots of critters to chase on the fence line. The entire yard has 2 feet of 3/8 river rock and a 40ft long by 12ft wide outdoor carpet...have this for 2 reasons...we have no mud and no fleas as we have no grass. The carpet allows the dogs to run and play or sleep in the sun as the rocks can be hard to do that so they have the option. My experience administering medication Pretty much have dealt with it all!!! In rescue many pets get dumped at a shelter due to a health problem they cannot deal with or afford....so I have a very large experience of health problems across the board and am happy to care for your special needs pet. No problem with medications orally or subcutaneous!

She took wonderful care of my two kitties, and took pictures at each visit. I would definitely recommend her for watching your furry family members.

We love all dogs....obviously in a pack situation it is not going to be a good mix for all dogs....we are very good at making things comfortable for the need of each individual dog we take in and would do the same with your dog....we cannot have dog aggressive dogs at all. For instance with small dogs that feel overwhelmed with the big dogs we let them potty in our front enclosed court yard so they feel more secure.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks The dogs get a ton of exercise playing with each other for the most part....I do take rover dogs to Marymoor or Magnuson once I have sat them at least once and feel comfortable that they will listen to me. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Your dog can sleep where ever it feels the most comfortable ;o) typically in a snuggy in our bedroom.... Time I'll spend with your dog As much time as we can...some days someone is home all day/night....some days during work they will be crated 1-6 hours max.....but when we are home it is a big play zone....the dogs play tug a war, play in the kiddie water pool, play tag your it and make laps around the xlarge yard, chase the squirrels and birds on the fence line, wrestle, play ball.....or they are laying in the sun, napping in a snuggy, sleeping on the couch, getting hugs and pets from me when they need it.....hubby is the treat man....he loves giving praise and awards sits with dog cookies....
