Quality Care~ Kind~ Will*Help Train

Pet care experience

~ YOUR PEACE OF MIND IS MY PRIORITY ~ I will love and protect your precious pets as if they were my own! Should you decide to book your pet’s stay-cation with me, note that I while I don’t have a huge lot with acreage and an overly spacious home, I do have the skill-set, stamina and resources to provide your loved ones with the quality care they require and the proper level of activity they crave. I will strive to adhere to your pet’s schedule and to your care and training strategies so that your critters are stress free and happy. ~ ABOUT ME ~ I've been surrounded by animals all my life and I have a deep compassion for them and love the pure joy they give us all. I've either owned or cared for all kinds of animals, from rats to bovine but my true passion is for dogs and horses. I grew up working on a farm as a horseback riding instructor throughout high school and college, played Varsity Polo for UC Santa Barbara on the same polo fields as Prince Charles and was the Chief of Horseback at Club Med, Playa Blanca in Jalisco, Mexico. The love of my life was my Border Collie, Orion FGDCh, who I had the pleasure of competing alongside in Flyball for over ten years. We excelled together in Basic, Intermediate and Advanced obedience and he lived a long and full life until he was 15. ~ MY PASSION FOR EXCELLENCE ~ I've raised and successfully trained my own dogs and those I've cared for, and I have a passion for raising well-rounded, consistently trained pets who are a pleasure for others to be around. I believe that consistent and focused structure and training for our pets does not limit them but opens the floodgates of opportunity and fosters contentment. A well-mannered, confident and obedient pet is offered so many more opportunities to accompany us on the journey of our lives. Also, never forget. . . A tired puppy is a good puppy! ~ A NOTE ABOUT MY AVAILABILITY ~ I'm honored to say that I have several repeat clients who consistently request my services. Thanks to all of you who keep coming back. . . I truly love your babies and very much enjoy working with you! I have recently been booking up rather far in advance. If I'm already familiar with your pet (whether it's by a previous stay or an initial meet & greet) I will have a solid understanding of his/her needs and am better able to assess if/how I can accommodate you during peak periods where I might have multiple requests or already be booked. I strive to accommodate each and every request so while I make every effort NOT to take dogs from different families at the same time, I will if I am reasonably capable of accommodating multiple requests from my cherished clients. I will ONLY do this if I'm certain all dogs will get along and that everyone is assured to have a fun and STRESS FREE stay! Multiple requests will of course be determined on a case-by-case basis. With that said, I must include the following fee disclaimer out of necessity: If you book a stay but require "single occupancy", I may assess an additional charge to cover for lost business in situations where I am forced to decline multiple requests that coincide/overlap with your stay. This will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Please don't let this deter you from discussing options with me, as I am creative, flexible and dedicated to accommodating everyone to the best of my ability. Thank you!

Kelly was wonderful with my girl Roxy. Updates with photos made me feel relaxed while I was away!

Absolutely amazing! Kelly is a fantastic sitter. Her care and attention to Midnight was wonderful and comforting. She constantly sent pictures of Midnight and updated me on how he was getting along. I highly recommend Kelly and I look forward to her taking care of Midnight in the future. Thanks so much, Kelly! ?

I cannot say enough god things about Kelly's pet sitting services! She was so thorough in learning about our dog and providing the best care for her. Our senior dog needed some extra planning for walks and Kelly was FANTASTIC about giving her everything and more. We loved the many pictures and comments that allowed us to be away worry-free. This was the best pet-sitting arrangement I have ever had in the many years of owning dogs. Kelly is the ultimate pet professional and super caring to her pets and people.

Gunner had a fantastic time with Kelly. I was beginning to think he didn't want to come home. Highly recommend!

Information Kelly H. would like to know about your pet

I prefer to host dogs that are either crate trained or capable of being left unattended for approximately 3-4 hour time blocks without being destructive or disruptive to the neighborhood because I do work M-F. My office is only 4 minutes away and I have the ability to pop in periodically to check on dogs staying with me. Also, my office is dog friendly and I've been known to take dogs into the office with me on occasion. If you are comfortable with this type of environment then I am the right place for you! Your pet essentially becomes a temporary member of my family and otherwise gets more love, attention, structure and activity than he/she will know what to do with. Does your dog have any specific health issues or past/recurring injuries, fears or idiosyncrasies I should know about before taking on the responsibility for his/her care?

A typical day

I have paved and wooded hiking trails near my home and there are creeks to swim in if appropriate/allowed. I love to take my dogs out and about as much as possible (i.e., festivals, outdoor eateries, any outings where dogs are allowed in public), provided they are sufficiently trained and socialized. I am willing to work with you and your dog with respect to obedience training if you so desire *. *It is not my objective to accept an untrained or ill-mannered dog and rehabilitate him/her during the stay. Please note that this is not a board and train offer. However, I will adhere to your training structure (whatever that may be), would be delighted to offer training advice/suggestions if you're interested, and I promise to insist on proper behavior while your dog is in my home. I'll let your dog decide where s/he wants to sleep. I can provide a dog bed or will spread a plush blanket over furniture if that's the chosen spot. I will encourage you to provide your dog's usual bedding if possible, to make the transition easier on him/her. I'll spend as much time as possible with your dog. We'll walk the trails 2-3 times a day or we can just snuggle if that's what your dog prefers. When I have to leave the house for any period of time, your dog will be crated, confined to a smaller area of my home, or allowed free rein of the house, depending on our pre-stay conversations and my assessment of your dog's comfort level and ability to be left unattended in a new environment. Please note that I do not recommend boarding services for pets who experience separation anxiety when owners are away. A pet who suffers from separation anxiety is much better left in their own home where they are familiar with their surroundings. If that is the case with your beloved pet, I encourage you to consider my house sitting services instead. This service does not provide 24-hour coverage as I will have to leave your home to attend to other pets. Rest assured however, your pets will have companionship for several hours per day and overnight.
