I've grown up with dogs!
Pet care experience
I've loved dogs for as long as I've been alive! I've grown up with American Eskimo dogs as family pets, and I've pet sit for family and family friends since I was fourteen. I often dog-sit for my aunts and uncles, grandparents and neighbors. My last dog, Suki, I had for 15 years. I helped raise her from puppy, helped train her, take care of her and then look after her in her old age. After I moved for graduate school this past summer, I have been missing a furry presence in my life, and thought I could help take care of dogs in the area! I have experience dealing with high energy dogs, dogs that might be considered more stubborn, and I also have experience with older dogs who have a harder time getting around. I love walking dogs and finding new, interesting walking paths that both I and the dog enjoy. It's always such a joy to see that happy, tongue-out smile on the face of a dog that's just had a great time! Whether it's a walk or a Frisbee or a stuffed animal, you're dog will have fun with me. From May to September, I am currently working during the day, but my schedule is flexible, so please don't hesitate to contact me to see if we can figure something out for your dog's particular needs. :) I am a graduate student at Westminster Choir College studying Vocal Performance, so I am close to the Princeton area and work in the area.
Reviews
Kelly was an amazing pet/house sitter while we were away on vacation for a week. This was our first time using Rover and it was a great experience thanks to Kelly. She watched over our dachshund, Bongo Drums and our two cats Lyla Garrity and Tim Riggins. She is kind and super quick at responding to communications. All of our pets are super happy to have had a wonderful sitter around while we were away and so are we. Thanks Kelly!
My cats warmed up to Kelly pretty quickly. She took care of my cats as requested and gave me good feedback on how they were doing. Everyone was very happy!
My super-energetic dogs love Kelly. She is playful and always challenges them with toy time and walks and games, like throwing the ball or hide-and-seek with a treat or fun toy. She's good with treat motivation as well as just snuggling with them to make them feel safe and loved. She even found a tumor that was growing in my furbaby's paw that I hadn't noticed, and we were able to have it removed before it caused too much damage. I am so grateful to her for that extra level of attention to my pet (child)! I highly recommend Kelly to care for your dog(s). You can feel secure knowing she will go the extra mile to make sure your dog feels comfortable and cared for.
Kelly does a great job. She made sure my dog stayed on her normal schedule got her daily work-outs and loved her like her own. It was also a great comfort knowing I had someone I could trust to be able to stay with my dog-child in my home. I highly recommend her to watch your animals

Information Kelly H. would like to know about your pet
I'd like to know if there's anything quirky about your pup. How do they feel around strangers? Do they have any anxieties, like thunderstorms or separation anxiety? If I were to walk them, do they ever get startled or feel threatened by anything on their regular walks? Do they have any food aggression? I also like to know if you dog has a favorite treat, or is allowed treats. Sometimes shy or skittish dogs feel more at home if I bring along some treats to make it a more pleasant experience. Dogs are highly motivated by food and sometimes need that little nudge to know it's okay! I don't have a breed preference. I've grown up with American Eskimos, which are lovely, family-loyal, energetic dogs, but can also be a stubborn, strong-willed breed. I'm used to a dog that has a mind of it's own, and am more than ready to reign in shenanigans. If you have a high-energy dog, I'm more than ready to keep your baby busy and happy.
A typical day
I like to walk dogs around the neighborhood if there are proper walkways, but I also like to take trips to the nearest parks and trails. My dogs loved to explore new parks and trails, so if your dog can handle a small car trip to the nearest park, I think it would be a great way to let them get some exercise as well as explore some new scents! If you have a fenced-in backyard, I'm up for some fun games of catch and Frisbee! Whatever your dog likes, I believe a variety of dog toys and games helps a dog not become bored and works their mind, and that's a good thing!
