Dog rescue volunteer/ Teacher / EMT

Pet care experience

Hello. My name is Kelly and dogs are a huge part of my life. Five years ago I began to volunteer as a fospice (foster hospice) home for shelter dogs. That has since grown into foster failing many hospice dogs, cats, and kittens. I’ve got a lot of experience handling medical needs of dogs and cats. My experience includes the following: end of life cancer care, neuro/ physical disability care (moderate to end of life), bariatric dog care, blind dog care, deaf and blind cat care, ringworm and other related kitten illness care, cardiac condition care for dogs and cats, behavioral modification care, and a host of other medical situations. My pets are fully vetted and get immediate emergent care when needed. My shelter and primary vet staff are amazing. Their love and support is a testament to their feelings toward me. I love to help out my community pets in any way possible. I can give sub Q fluids, IM injections, Oral meds, treatment for skin conditions, enimas (gross, but some animals need them! Doctors orders)

Kelly “dropped in” and took care of Maggie every Thursday. She is reliable and i never had to worry about Maggie being taken care of while i was at work. I would use Kelly again when i need someone to care for her

Kelly cares deeply about all dogs and is professional, prepared, and so loving to sweet furry friends! We got lots of updates on our dog's walk and couldn't have left her in better hands.

Kelly is the biggest animal lover I’ve ever met. She’s extremely thorough with her care. All of her pets recieve constant love and affection. I’d highly recommend her as a sitter- she is trustworthy, careful, and communicates extremely well. She’s watched my cats several times and I’ve always felt comfortable leaving them with her.

I have a very difficult little dog. I love him to peices but he’s old, cranky and a red heeler which means he likes me, nobody else, and ... he bites. A lot. I trust him with nobody which means our hikes are always solo. I first met Kelly when she hospice-adopted a foster dog of mine. She had been badly neglected and Kelly took her in and loved that dog ten lifetimes worth in the short time she had left on the earth. After that, we spent a LOT of time together, walking shelter dogs — day hikes, outings, events — and she was the most fun, patient, incredibly natural dog person I have ever met. So when she suggested we invite my dog for a hike I was almost optimistic. Well. He loved her. Loved her. Trotting alongside, looking up at her, relaxed, normal, happy. I never see my dog like that with other people. Kelly just has that rare magical quality with dogs. You literally cannot do better, find someone more responsible, more dog-smart and certainly not someone who will take your dog into her home as if they were her own (and on the best hikes of their lives if that’s their thing!)

Information Kelly E. would like to know about your pet

I'd like to know the basics about you dog. What calms them? What do we need to avoid so he or she isn't feeling stressed? Is there food or toy aggression (NOT a deal breaker!)? I need to know so that I can act accordingly. What motivates your dog? There's always opportunity to practice positive training methods!

A typical day

I walk 1,100 miles per year, often with dogs by my side! I run a hiking group here in South Jersey, so I'm often out on the trails. I kayak and love going for drives in the woods. If you want your dog to have a day full of adventure, I'm your dog sitter! I'm also happy watching Netflix with a dog snuggled up by my side. I have baby gates at my house and I'm very accustomed to managing multiple dogs myself. I have the ability to keeps the dogs separate until everyone is comfortable.
