Huntington Pup Lodge!

Pet care experience

Fun, loving home away from home for your dog(s) - Your little furry love(s) will essentially become part of our family for their stay. We will carry on how we do with our pups...so: unlimited fun, cuddles, love, walks, kisses, relaxation, exploration and excitement. Where we would go and what we would do with our dogs, we will go with our dogs + our guests. We also accommodate any special needs or preferences needed by our guests. Check out our instagram devoted to showing you what a stay with us would look like for your furry loved one!: @huntingtonpuplodge 😊 As you review our profile, please know that no dog care/Rover-related questions are off limits - we want you comfortable with every aspect of your pets time here! Myself and my husband, Cody, each have 20 years of canine primary care experience. We own our home - our place is dog proof, and the dogs have the run of most of it at all times. We have lots of room for playing fetch with toys and letting the dogs spread out and have fun together. Happy to provide pictures of our place aside from what is already posted on our page - just ask! I offer many services, and am willing to cater to the specific needs of your pet while in my care. We can tailor your pets visit to fit your standards and liking. We have two pups of our own - Lexi (15 years old, lazy maltese) and Wesley (5 year old, ready to play once he gets to know another pup, and full of energy Chihuahua mix). Lexi keeps to herself, and will very occasionally play with other dogs - she is mostly content to sleep on her window perch. Wes is ready to run around and play with other dogs until he wears himself out for a nap.

Kelly and Cody were so good to our dog Whiskey over the 5 days he was with them. We received pictures and updates frequently and felt our dog was very happy spending time with Kelly and her family. He was even combed as requested and that was very nice and appreciated. Will definitely consider using Kelly again! Thank you!

Kelly has been watching my dog Jax for a few years now, both for Doggy Day Care and overnights. Today we returned from a 4 day trip and Jax was so excited to see her when we dropped him off a few days ago! He loves staying with her and her family... she has been wonderful every single time. I'm a nervous dog Mom (about leaving him) but trust her completely and Jax always comes home happy! She sends me pics and updates when he is with her and I am able to enjoy my time away. So happy we found her and will continue to have her watch Jax over and over again :)

Jax had another great day with Kelly and Cody today! He loves spending the day with their family, and is always a happy and tired boy when he comes home. Kelly sends pics and updates throughout the day, and I’m always 100% comfortable leaving him with her. Thanks and we will see you again soon!

Jax had another great doggy day care day at Kelly and Cody’s today! He has stayed there many times, both for day care and overnights. I am always extremely comfortable leaving him there - he loves spending time with them and their pups, and they are wonderful with him! He is a happy and tired dog tonight 🙂

Safety, trust & environment

Our yard is fully fenced and our home is pet proof. Coupled with our years of experience of being dog owners and carers for hundreds of pups over the past 20 years, we are equipped to deal with many situations. We, unfortunately, have experienced a handful of guests who’s pet parents were not honest about behavioral/aggression issues. Because of this, upon receiving a booking request, I will be asking a number of questions to avoid this in the future - our safety and the safety of our pets is imperative. As is the safety of our guests. We have gates to separate dogs who might have a small, understandable spat. But if your pet shows signs of unsettling aggression towards our dogs or our son, we will contact rover to have the pet placed with another sitter. Please be honest in your request. Most behaviors we can manage when we are made aware of them. (Food or toy aggression, aggressiveness on leash when passing other dogs, etc.).

Information Kelly B. would like to know about your pet

1. I have a young son. I only accept dogs and how are comfortable and not aggressive around small humans. He is 1.5 years old and an absolute dog lover. He is very gentle but dogs that don’t have REGULAR experience around toddlers are often unsure and on guard around little ones. If you’re not sure how your dog will be, no hard feelings - please find another sitter! 2. Please confirm they are fully potty trained - this may include that they use wee wee pads, but we cannot accept pups who mark or have accidents on our floors or carpets - the cost of damages and for sanitary purposes. 3. Barking is a-OK with me when pups are playing, hear the doorbell ring, or to let me know they need to go outside. But barking for attention we cannot accept - I work from home and it is imperative that during my workday, all pups are quiet so that I can moderate and participate on calls without coming off unprofessional to my colleagues and superiors. They will get tons of breaks to go outside, but barking for attention is unacceptable! 4. Please be upfront if your dog has aggression issues. Whether with other dogs, getting protective over his walkers/humans, with food, etc. It's important we are aware. We have dealt with many, many different scenarios where this has been the case - so we are equipt to deal with it, but knowing and taking steps to ease/avoid is half the battle...we understand it's also not an easy habit to break. We just want to be ready! This way we can do the best we can to keep your pup as stressfree as possible. :) Those are the biggies! When we meet and greet, I tend to have more questions - diet restrictions/routine, walking routine/preferences, sleeping habits, etc.

A typical day

We live in a quiet neighborhood, great for walks, very dog-friendly area. We are active, and can run/jog/hike with your pup if they require lots of outdoor activity. We also play endlessly with toys around the house. Wes loves to wrestle around playfully, but if our Rover guest would prefer to play solo with a toy or bone, that is fine! We play fetch with balls and squeaky toys!

I work full time remote from home. Cody works part time from home. Someone is always home during the week. We have dog beds and comfy places to nap in every space we might spend time from in the kitchen, to the den, to under my sons crib where we spend time doing bedtime - our pups and guests have been big fans of his story time 😊. On the weekends, we are pretty tethered to home for our 1.5year old sons nap times! We are full on dog lovers and we bring our doggies wherever we can. We do that with our rover buddies, too, when appropriate and when owners are OK with that. Whether that’s on walks, around the corner to my parents house, etc.
