Critter Loving Nomad

Pet care experience

Loving and living with old dogs has been my life until spring 2021 when old age and cancer took my girls just weeks apart at 15 and 12years old. Walking, carrying, feeding and meds for stubborn pups, bathing sludge puppies (my chow mix loved mud) training and socialization ( my failed-foster pittie was a terrified and aggressive rescue turned love bug) I love all dogs and have no problem dealing with frightened new rescues and young pups who need extra patience to learn to trust strangers. I have a knack for getting through to the shyest of dogs and often surprise people with how quickly their usually antisocial dogs warm up to me. Going back to seasonal, nomadic work means getting another dog isn’t in the cards for a while, and I’m not sure I’m ready yet, anyway. But I can love yours!

I was in town visiting and Kelli was recommended by the Airbnb host. Kelli was very accommodating to all my requests and questions and I would recommend her to anyone, my dog Oscar had a fun few hours with her.

Kelli was fantastic with our two dogs. They warmed up to her quickly and she was so caring towards them. I would highly recommend her for dog sitting or any other needs. She was so flexible and willing to help!

Kelli did an outstanding job with our dogs! Her attention to detail was impeccable! Our one dog Petey, had a bandage on his paw and she took extra good care of him and really got to know him! I will ask Kelli back on our next booking! Loved all the pictures and videos too! Made us feel at ease while on vacation as we knew they were in good hands. Thanks so much Kelli!! Petey and Pongo thank you too!

Kelli was absolutely amazing with our fur baby. We have not left him in the 10 months since we got him so I of course was nervous to leave him. She came for a meet and greet and knew just the right way to connect with him and he warmed up to her right away. She sent us a video once or twice a day along with a pic and an update on how he was doing, which made this pup mom feel very relaxed her first time away. Thank you Kelli! Rex will be connecting for a future play date.

Safety, trust & environment

House sitting is my preference because it’s always more comfortable for dogs to be in their own space, rather than being away from their family and in a new environment. I have a truck and keep a seat cover in the back of the double cab for trips to the park if pups are not accustomed to riding in the back of a pickup, or if they’re old and that’s too rough on the joints; plus I like being able to reach back at stoplights to pet the pups! I’ll follow whatever rules and training your dog knows, and we’ll play and have a good time while you’re away!

Information Kelli A. would like to know about your pet

I’m accustomed to dealing with special needs of older dogs.Giving meds, and assisting creaky old bones up steps is no problem! I can accommodate whatever a pup needs, so long as I know what they need. Don’t hesitate to leave me a list or instructions if there’s anything that may not be obvious.

A typical day

I like to play and hike with dogs. Nearby parks with creeks to splash in when it’s warm are great fun! Learning fun tricks and working on training and social skills is very rewarding for us all. Cuddles and snacks are a favorite part of the day (but I’ll respect any special dietary restrictions a pup has) working on any special training, let me know your commands! My dogs knew “you’re not driving” meant get in the backseat.
