Small Breed Specialist with 5 stars

Pet care experience

Hi! My name is Kelley! My family and I have been hosting rover dogs for almost 8 years now. In our home there are 8 of us: Abuelo + Abuela, Mom + Dad and we have 4 kids (ages 1,3,9 and 17 years) and 1 small Boston Terrier (known as the gentlemen breed: no biting, no barking). The whole family enjoys our time with your animals and we can’t wait to meet you all. 😊 While the majority of my clients choose to board at my home, I also can come to your home if that is your preference. Please note that my profile information is geared towards boarding information but I have just as much experience with drop in visits and house sitting and can answer any questions once you've requested to contact me. Select “contact Kelley” to book a meet and greet with me in the next few days. ♥️ We are open from 7:30am-7:30pm for drop off and pickups and are very flexible with adding or dropping days mid-stay. You can always be sure I will be timely, attentive, and communicative with you through your dog's stay. During their vacation, I will give you many PUPDATES with pictures and videos for you to have peace of mind regarding their time here. I ask that if you want to hear from us more or less than one time per day, please let me know- I want to be respectful of your vacation time as well. We are a multi-generational, bi-lingual work from home family that also homeschools. Between the 8 of us, there is always someone home for the dogs here. The only times I am out of the house when we host your dogs are for church on Sunday morning. During this time, my in-laws are still home and can inform us if anything is amiss. As a mother, I know just how important it is to find someone that is loving with your animals and knows how to follow their lead in a new environment. I am very intuitive with dog body language and can read into the most timid or anxious types of behaviors. I have helped many families through separation anxiety, food refusal, and other medical issues and I'm confident I will become your animal’s new best friend. You can be sure I will treat your furry family member just like one of our kiddos and I will always ensure they feel safe and respected by my family and I. During our time together, I will always be available via phone call or text to address anything that may arise. **Please note that we also offer going home baths for an additional charge** Let me know if you are interested. We use a non-toxic, mild oatmeal wash and blowdry or towel dry so that they go home smelling fresher than they came. This is our full time gig and we are up doing puppy things from about 6:30am to about midnight every day. We feed twice a day roughly 12 hours apart, it is ok if your dog is not used to this schedule. Hungry pups always eat. 👍🏼 **please note that due to a neighborhood noise complaint to our land lord, we can no longer take dogs that bark all day and all night. (This was only one dog that was battling severe separation anxiety despite being loved and comforted. Mom picked the dog up after a few hours.) We love all dogs with all temperaments and background but cannot risk taking dogs that are known to bark around the clock. If you are unsure if your dog is suitable for residential boarding, please come for a meet and greet and we will assess. 😊♥️

Kelley was very professional and detailed oriented which put my mind at ease. She clearly loves dogs and has a handle on many possibilities. Very thankful I connected with her. The picture/video updates were awesome.

Kelley was fantastic! We were nervous to leave our pup with a new person, but our entire family was immediately put at ease. Kelley was great about communicating what to expect and, she sent us tons of photos of her family giving our pup lots of love! I am definitely using her in the future. Thank you , Kelley!

Information Kelley L. would like to know about your pet

**BOARDING REQUIREMENTS** The most important information that I focus on with qualifying your pet for a stay is all based on experience over the many years I have done this. First, I unfortunately cannot take any dogs with a history of aggression. This includes being “growly”, “snarly”, “fearful” and “reactive” but especially includes dogs that are “nippy” and “bitey”. I say this for the safety of your dog, my family and the other dogs I am watching. My dog was recently attacked during a meet and greet and almost lost her eye from a dog the owner only believed was a little nervous around other dogs. They had recently rescued the dog and hadn’t had her around other dogs yet. Please if your dog is not accustomed to being in a family home with kids and around other dogs frequently, choose to board according to what they are used to. Second, I would like to know if your dog is potty trained to go inside the house on a pee pad or if they are trained to go outside. Third, I do nighttime crate training for all dogs during their stay since I cannot supervise them while I am sleeping. A crate is not required for booking as we have extras have but I will go over this more during the meet and greet. I will ask you for additional information regarding your dogs health, emergency contacts, and all other pertinent information prior to drop off.

A typical day

Your dog immediately will become part of our pack. He or she will rise when we rise around 6:30/7am and they will be let outside to the dog yard to relieve themselves while we eat breakfast. Once our breakfast is done and off the floor (toddlers) we will let your pup back in and feed them breakfast. It is easiest to feed each dog in their respective crates and we give them about 30 minutes to finish up and then let them outside once more. Just as our day begins to get into the full swing with homeschool and phone calls, the dogs get full roam of the house. I will let them out another time or two as needed before our lunch time and they will be outside to catch some warm sun during lunch. Once lunch time is cleaned up, and toddlers are napping, we will actively be engaging in dog play and one on one time. If your dog is used to daily treats, this is when we will give them a treat. This is the perfect setup for some lazy time in the afternoon hours with lots of sitting on laps or lounging around once they get tired. Dogs that prefer outside can choose to go outside and dogs that prefer inside can choose to stay inside. Dogs can choose to either crate or go outside during our dinner time and they get fed right after us in the same way we did earlier in the day with potty break immediately. Then there is more of the same lounging and loving on the humans until around midnight they will get a final chance to use the potty. At night, dogs are crated or put to bed alone without other dogs for safety.
