Licensed Vet Tech To Love Your Pets

Pet care experience

I am Kayla! A California native, college graduate, and valid Ohio Veterinary Technician License holder. With over 10 years of experience working with, caring for, and loving on a vast variety of animals, I truly believe I'm your best choice in pet care. Choosing me is like choosing to have a piece of your regular veterinary practice stay with your dog - a keen eye who can keep watch for serious health issues or new symptoms while you're away, and can expedite and handle medical emergencies swiftly and appropriately. While in college to pursue my license, I spent my first four years working with big cats, bears, and elephants at an animal sanctuary in the California foothills. After that, I transitioned to working with the ASPCA in the greater Sacramento area to foster more clinical experience to help with my studies. Big dogs, small dogs, happy dogs, cats, guinea pigs, & even ferrets and birds - you name it and I had the pleasure of spoiling it with love and care in the shelter industry. Additionally, I worked on a ranch sanctuary for two years with everything from chickens and Nubian goats to thoroughbreds and miniature donkeys. I've since decided to break away from private practice and expand my dog sitting services which is why I am new to Rover. You may also find me on Wag and social media as well. My service style is centered on the use of positive energy and a keen understanding of canine and feline behavior. Dogs know when we are scared, nervous, or sad. It is important to project positive energy around them, especially when they are missing you. This same positive energy translates to my interactions with you! I pride myself on being an outgoing, friendly, and helpful aid to your busy lifestyle. For your first overnight booking with me, you will receive a fun video scrapbook of my activities with your fur family members. And as usual, EVERY booking will receive text/video updates if you wish.

Kayla always arrives on time, keeps us posted with updates and photos, and is always willing to help us with drop-in visits when her overnights are booked up. She somehow managed to get our bulldog to stop pulling on walks, and we have tried everything we can think of to break him of this habit, including harnesses. She is very much worth the peace of mind I get when I reserve her services. I used to board my dog and I never will again, as boarding kennels simply don’t have enough staff to give your dog the same kind of 1-on-1 attention they will get with a private sitter. Kayla is more affordable and far more personable. Would recommend her to anyone who cares about their animals.

Kayla has always been so great with my dogs. We also have a ferret and she is equally as knowledgeable because she used to volunteer for a ferret rescue in California. I could tell right away that she really takes her job seriously, and she always sends me photos and videos of my animals when I’m away. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to everyone that needs care. Her fees are representative of the highest quality care she will provide your pets, and as someone who has had bad experiences with past sitters who were less expensive, I am so glad I found Kayla!

Information Kayla Mariah M. would like to know about your pet

Because I understand that behavioral problems are more parent-specific than they are breed-specific, I don't have any breed restrictions. If you have a behaviorally challenged pet that will require more time for us to get to know one another, we can certainly work that out. Knowing a pet's preferences and behavioral history is important to me because it helps me to give them the best care that is most consistent with their routines.

A typical day

We can walk around your neighborhood, enjoy fun enrichment games, play fetch, and anything else that is a part of your dog's normal routine. Of course snuggles are a must!
