Pet care experience
I am currently working towards becoming a veterinarian. I LOVE animals! I have worked in veterinary hospitals for 7 years as a veterinary technician's assistant taking care of pets. Currently, I attend veterinary school at Washington State University. I am certified with Fear Free for animal handling in veterinary hospitals. I am comfortable administering medications and handling animals in safe, non-stressful ways. I also am educated in biosecurity techniques to minimize the risk illness spreading from animal to animal. I love running, being outside, and playing with dogs and cats! I am familiar with basic training techniques as well. I am confident I can provide you and your pet with the services you need in a safe and beneficial manner!

Kayla is full of energy and loves the outdoors, and will definitely give your pet the exercise & attention it needs. I assure you she will not over-exercise your pet, because she is training to be a veterinarian and has lots of experience working at vet clinics, in saying this I have seen that this has helped her to become even more "tuned in" to the needs of your pet. As someone who has spent many years in the veterinary field and has a lot of experience with pets, safety is one of my top priorities. When earning my Fear Free certification, I learned a lot about positive reinforcement and how to earn the trust of animals in and out of the veterinary clinic. Earning the trust of animals is important especially when caring for them while their owners are away.

A typical day
I love running and hiking! I take my dogs to Moscow Mountain multiple times each week. I grew up with Labrador Retrievers, so I am an expert at playing fetch! I also enjoy taking simple walks (for the less energetic dogs).

Availability
I am currently working part time with average hours of 9am to 3pm most days. I am available to care for pets at any time outside of those hours and am available on any days except for Saturdays.
