Pet care experience
Please see below for special notes on housesitting. 😊 I have had my own cats for 10 years, and have taken care of 7 over the years. I have a lot of experience giving cats medication, and I am very attentive to their behavior. As for dogs, I have never had my own, but I have been the “auntie” to several dogs over the years (including aggressive dogs) and feel comfortable handling/taking care of dogs of multiple breeds. I have house-sat with friend’s dogs and have also taken on potty breaks/meals for shorter periods of time. When it comes to dog walking, I am happy to work with any commands/habits that the dog would be used to or need on a walk. My motivation for doing dog walking is twofold: I want to get my doggo fix (I can’t currently have a dog at home due to family allergies) and get myself moving as the weather warms up.

Kayla did an outstanding job with our senior cat! We had our mom staying at our house while we are away and not being used to cats, had Kayla help a bit while our mom stayed with our dogs. Kayla provided awesome updates while we were out of the country! She was amazing company for our cat. Would love to have her return!

Kayla is truly the cat whisperer. I have five cats and one of them has kidney failure. Two of them usually hide when anyone comes over. All five of them loved her and came out to see her while we were gone. Not only that, Kayla is kind, loving, and truly treats pets like family members. She goes out of her way to make the entire experience trusted and cared for. She will be my go-to cat sitter from now on!

I absolutely LOVE a huge list of directions when it comes to taking care of a pet. Pets miss their people, and I always want to make sure a pet feels as comfortable as possible with me and with the situation. Having cats, I’m very aware of coming/going from the home and watching the door, and I’m also very used to keeping a close eye on food and water supply. I want to make sure a pet gets as much loving from me as they would like, and would definitely go straight to any pet I was watching after work.

Let me know anything about your dog that I should take into consideration when giving them care. Are they aggressive with other dogs? What kinds of toys are their favorite? Do they like fetch, or tug of war, or something else? I definitely want to know all the things that make the dog who they are.
A typical day
When babysitting a friend’s dog, I always make sure to at least have a long time playing in the yard, if not a walk or a ride to a park nearby. I will throw the ball as long as they want (or until I can tell they’re tired). If the weather is bad, I would work on finding ways to stimulate the dog inside - seek and find treat games, going over commands, etc.

Availability
I work full time, Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 4:30pm. I have an hour lunch at noon. I would be able to do potty breaks/meals/etc before work, potty breaks/meals/etc on my lunch, and potty breaks/meals/hang out time/etc after work. If I were housesitting with the pet (cat or dog) I would be able to follow that same schedule. As for walking, I am planning on walking exclusively in the evening after work.
