Reliable, Professional, Pre-Vet
Pet care experience
Hello, my name is Kayla! I have a Pre-Vet Animal Science degree from the University of Minnesota. I can provide daily exercise, structure, routine, patience, basic training, cuddling, medication administration and anything else an animal may need. I have basic care knowledge and training with a wide variety of animals. I have had small dogs my whole life but also worked with medium and large breeds, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and birds. I will be pursuing a veterinary doctorate degree in the future and am always looking to advance my knowledge of animals and their behaviors. Plus being around them just makes my day
Reviews
So reliable and responsive - her vet education background means she really understands dogs too!!
Once again a great visit for the cats! Thanks again.
Kayla is always very warm and accommodating. She goes out of her way to make sure myself and my nervous dog are comfortable and that he’s taken care of! Very reliable.
The best! My littles had never been left home alone before, and they loved being able to stay at home and have Kayla take care of them. So much nicer than a dog hotel or stranger's house! Excellent communication and coordination, sends lots of photos!

Safety, trust & environment
I am quick to reply, honest, reliable, and would be respectful while I stay in your home. I always keep an eye on any animals outside and will follow instructions while they are in my care. On walks we generally stay away from other dogs to prevent any unwanted interactions. I always double check that gates and doors are locked to keep the animal (and home) safe. I don’t invite people over without permission and always send updates while I am there. I am also willing to take care of plants and grab mail if you need it. Basic safety: I have my pet first aid and CPR certification. Along with experience giving injections and oral medications.
Information Kayla P. would like to know about your pet
It is important that I know how your animal will react to other animals and people. I would also like to be provided with information on their veterinary care (in case of emergencies). Any medication, medical conditions, or other things to be aware of are important to know as well.
A typical day
While I am caring for you pet I will make sure they are physically an mentally engaged. I don’t generally go to dog parks but there are a few off leash hiking trails I’m comfortable going to. I often take my roommates dogs to Bryant Lake Park. We can always go on walks around the neighborhood and play with any toys to their heart's content. I work with rescue animals frequently so I am familiar with all levels of energy and reactivity. I also do the occasional drop off at daycare or grooming for any dogs that prefer their social time in those settings.

Availability
I am a full time pet sitter so my schedule varies and I try to be as flexible as possible. I have a few regular weekly visits during the middle of the day and I’m always open to requests. I do my best to put myself on the animal’s schedule so they have as normal of a day as possible. I volunteer at a local shelter a couple days a week as well and fill in when needed. I never want someone to feel like they can’t reach out to me, especially for last second help. I truly do my best to accommodate.
