The veterinarian suggested euthanasia as the cat was suffering, the parents trusted me enough to allow me to be present during this process. I acted as end of life doula for their precious pet. I was honored to hold and comfort him. His parents were extremely grateful that their beloved cat did not have to suffer for a week, until they returned from their business trip. As a nurse, I am comfortable with oral medications and if oriented to the specific injectable medication, I am able to provide that care, as well.
