Experienced Dog Walker and Sitter

Pet care experience

I have always loved dogs from the minute we brought home Tanga, my childhood German Shepherd. My dog was my protector and rarely left my side, I discovered a lifelong love for pups of all shapes and sizes. In college I lived with my best friend when she brought home Jackson, an Australian Shepherd who I helped raise until she (and him) moved away. Jackson had an insane amount of energy and kept us on our toes from day one. I'm definitely experienced with high energy dogs and ready for some exercise. From morning walks to trips to the dog park, I'm ready for lots of activity. I'm a talented and loving doggie caretaker and an "Auntie" to my friends' and families' pups. When my friends brought home a brand new Rhodesian ridgeback/lab mix puppy I helped with the beginning stages of training. I spent a lot of time with Buckley making sure that he was trained the way his parents wanted. I think it's so important to learn how owners want their dogs trained and what the rules are when you are watching them such as feeding people food from the table or reinforcing new tricks. Consistency is so important in those early years and the dogs put in my care will most certainly have that. I work at a local restaurant so my days are usually open to walk dogs. I volunteer at the Brooklyn location of the Animal Care Center as well. I would love to take care of your dogs because I have a true love for our four legged friends. I will learn as much as I can about your pups to make sure they receive the best care. So what are you waiting for? Give me a call and let's get to walkin'!

Katy takes amazing care of Monty. He has stayed with her multiple times and she is definitely one of his favorite people! Katy is very attentive and patient to every dog's individual needs and treats them like they are her own. She is great at providing updates while they are in her care and responds quickly when I have a question or just want to know how my dog is doing. Katy is very flexible with scheduling, which is great if anything comes up at the last minute. I highly recommend Katy and will continue to book with her!

Safety, trust & environment

I have one male roommate who also works in restaurants. The last dog I watched over the Christmas holiday was notoriously not okay with men but even warmed up to him by the end. I have a large bedroom that can house a dog bed, toys, etc. and the dog would have access to the whole "dog-proofed" place.

Home

Lives in an apartment
Does not have a yard
Non-smoking household
Has no pets
No children present
Dogs allowed on bed
Dogs allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 4-8 hours

Information Katy L. would like to know about your pet

I'm comfortable with any size of dog, I volunteer at a shelter and have specialized training walking any type of dog. The only information I'd need ahead of time is any training you'd like me to reinforce like saying "wait" before eating or specific tricks before giving a treat, etc.

A typical day

I live in Williamsburg and would like to keep my range down to relatively close. I would be able to walk your dog down to Domino Park, even up to McCarren if the the weather isn't too cold. I would reinforce any training already begun, just let me know.

Availability

I currently work at a restaurant 3 nights a week, but my shifts are relatively short (it isn't a late night spot) so if I'm caring for your pup overnight they wouldn't be left alone long. It frees up time during the day to walk dogs.
