The Pet Whisperer Has Returned
Pet care experience
Like many Rover pet sitters, I’ve always had a dog in my life in some way, shape or form. I was a pre-vet Animal Science major for 3.5 years until some health issues limiting me forced me to change. Before then, I gained lots of experience working at the Vet School, summer internships at a vet clinic in the mountains, and three and a half years of classes. My studies and life experience have given me a wealth of experience caring for all sorts of breeds and temperaments, and qualified to care for your pet as well! As I have graduated, my time can be tailored to suit your needs! I have scheduled work M-W from 11 a.m.- 7 p.m., with flexibility outside of those hours 😁 I have several clients I have been sitting with for years now. I love developing long-term sitting relationships so your pet has someone they know and are comfortable around with them, but I also love one-off and short term jobs! Getting to meet all sorts of pets brings me a lot of joy. I am an avid musician, am part of Mu Beta Psi (National Honorary Music Service Fraternity), cosplayer, and crocheter-- In short, I’m a bit of a geek with a knack for creating fun, nerdy things. My clients would say I’m loving, dedicated and experienced. I provide excellent customer service by communicating regularly and sending photo and video updates so you can relax knowing your pup is in the best of hands. I want you to know that they're getting love and care, while also getting to see the doofy fun stuff while you're out! Before moving away for college I had three family dogs of my own—a Chihuahua, a Beagle and a Great Pyrenees. Right now I am unable to have a dog of my own, which means I have all the more energy and time to spend with your furry, feathered, and scaley friends! As I've graduated, I now have a very open schedule and lots of time to spend with your pet! I don't overbook myself to make sure I can provide the proper love and care your pet deserves! I always make sure doors stay closed and locked until we need to go outside. Human foods stay out of their reach, usually kept in a cabinet, and I don't bring in foods that are toxic to your pet. Please let me know of any allergies (both owner and pet) so I can be sure to avoid bringing them in. Additionally, with COVID, I continue to wear my mask and largely avoid social systems. If you would like a negative test prior to the job, I'm happy to provide!
Reviews
Katy was great with my dogs and incredibly reliable. I was in Raleigh for 6 weeks for work, and Katy came by every day to check in on my two dogs, including my rambunctious puppy! Excellent communication throughout, knowledgeable, diligent, and trustworthy. I can't recommend her more highly!
Katy is very reliable and great with both of my dogs!!
Jasper enjoyed his walk Sept2 with Katy!!! She was perfect.
My dog is impossible to tire out, so when she comes back tired I’m super thrilled!! Thank you for giving my pup exercise when I couldn’t. Will definitely rebook in the future ?

Communication
Skills
Safety, trust & environment
I follow whatever safety guidelines owners set. Unless otherwise specified, pups will be on-leash outside of the home or fenced-in areas. I also minimize interaction with other people/animals to avoid bad interactions. I want to make sure your pet is safe! I also am avid about closing and locking doors (having a cat who can open door knobs trains you fast!)
Information Katy F. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your dogs has any specific needs, how frequently they like to go out, if they’re potty trained, if they have any fears (storms, loud noises, etc.) and anything else you think I’d need to know. I have no breed preferences, and will love on them no matter what they are!
A typical day
A typical day will mirror a day you spend with your friend! I treat my jobs as if I am a stand-in for you; whatever walks, play-time, meds, etc your pet usually does, I'll make sure we stick to it. Minimizing changes makes it less stressful for your pet and keeps them comfortable.

Availability
I work weekly M-W from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Those times are concrete, but outside of that, I have a lot of flexibility! I am often up late (~3 a.m., so late-night check-ins and walks are right up my alley!)
