About this sitter: I'm a genuine, honest, empathetic, fair and confident woman dedicated to self-improvement, respectful treatment of animals and humans a like. I believe life is a beautiful, yet an ever challenging journey that pushes us toward deeper levels of faith. When love and truth direct our thoughts and actions a deeper connectedness and harmony deepens our alignment with all living things. Why I love dog sitting I've been a dog lover my whole life. Growing up, my family would find me cuddled up on the floor right there with the dogs. I was eager to take the lead at age 9 to teach our family pups (German Shepard-Doberman Mix and Beagle) their first commands. I credit my knowlege of basic dog care and training to my Aunt Leslie who showed me how to train dogs with treats and positive reinforcement. I became an independent dog owner at age 25 and my life was forever changed; it was now Katie and Rorrie. The story of how Rorrie came in to my life is a unique one, that I like to think of as destiny. I so boldly asked a friend if they would consider letting me take ownership of their family dog as I noticed all though Rorrie was vetted, fed, and got some play, she wasn't exactly "part of the family". They graciously agreed and I've been with my girl ever since. In her younger years, Rorrie followed me around and was my 17lb shadow; we went everywhere together. Rorrie is now 15 years young and holding her own. Everyday is a blessing. She has my heart and is the most gentle, kind hearted creature I've ever met. Professionally, I've fostered dogs from New England all Breed dog rescue, and have dog- sitted for co-workers, friends and family dogs for 10 years. I was a full time dog walker/ trainer for a large dog walking service out of Worcester for a short time (2011) before returning to my primary field of work in Human Services. It is my goal offer top notch dog care, training and family support to dog's and their families. About my yard We live on a quiet side street. I have a private driveway and a small backyard. My experience administering medication Yes, absolutely. I'm experienced in pilling dogs and preparing medications as needed. I strictly follow doctor's/parents directions accurately. I am MAP Certified. (Medication Administration Program Certified by Massachusetts Health and Human Services).

Katie is a very experienced dog walked and sitter. She is very trustworthy and has a big heart. She loves every dog she comes in contact with as if it were her own pet. Katie is amazing with every dog, from my 11 pound shih tzu to large pit bulls. I would highly recommend her services to anyone.

Katie has a wonderful and natural intuition when it comes to taking care of your canine companions. She has over a decade of experience training, caring for, sitting for, and boarding dogs- I know she can always be relied on. In fact, if it wasn't for Katie's willingness to care for dogs and volunteer her time in caring for pups, we wouldn't have our dog Roxy! Katie was Roxy's foster mom when she was rescued from a kill shelter in North Carolina. When we met Roxy we just couldn't say good bye and we've been together for almost five years now and she is doing great! Many thanks to Katie and her team!

Information Katie M. would like to know about your pet

Before sitting for your pup, I ask to meet with you and your pup (s) so I may collect essential information about your pet. I will collect a brief health history (vaccines, allergies, health condition), a behavioral and temperament assessment, and daily routine information (sleeping, bathroom, meal and exercise schedules) and discuss any other concerns or requests you may have. Prior to your first date of service, I could come to your home, meet at a pet friendly location in the community or you may come to mine to complete a no obligation complimentary service assessment interview. Exceptions to an in person assessment can be made in outstanding circumstances, but a phone interview is always required. After completing the assessment, both parties (myself and the customer) will individually agree to terms of service. It is utmost importance that I, as well as the dog parent feel our pairing is a positive match. I have no breed preferences! I have experience and confidence caring for and training a wide range of breeds including Yorkies, Chihuahuas, Beagles, Pugs, Spaniels, Retrievers, American Pit Bulls and German Shepards.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks We will take your dogs for walks around our large yard and through our nearby conservation trails. Please be sure to keep your dog up to date with high quality flea and tick prevention during the months March through November. We will not take dogs on trails who do not have current and appropriate pest prevention treatment. In that case we will walk your dog on our treated property and side streets only. Your dog's sleeping arrangement We have several cozy dog sleeping areas available! Doggies may choose from: an extra large mattress topped with fresh sheets and blankets to create their own "nest" in our quiet room on the lower level heated by a cozy gas stove, medium and smaller dog beds upstairs in the living and play area, and a medium size plastic crate is available on site if your pup prefers a den experience. Dogs are welcomed to settle in which ever room they feel the most safe and comfortable. Time I'll spend with your dog Either myself or my partner will be spending anywhere from 15-24 hours per day.
