Hello! I am a current third year vet student at LIU looking to some spending money while taking classes. I have taken care of a range in sizes and types of animals over the past 10 years, working in a full service animal hospital. My duties there include immediate care, medication administration, and careful observation of pet activities and behavior. I can provide lots of love for your furry family while you are away! Availibility is completely open meaning I am availiable weekdays and weekends to check in on or stay with your pets. I am comfortable working with small dogs like chihuahuas, to large dogs like Great Danes along with any cats or smaller creatures. I am very understanding that your furry (or scaley) friends are very important to you, so that makes them very important to me!

To Whom It May Concern: Katie has cared for my dog Roger for quite awhile now, and I wouldn’t have anyone else! She is professional, trustworthy, generous with her time and most importantly, compassionate and loving to my golden retriever. When I travel I always feel calm and secure knowing that Katie is watching over him. She is very experienced and knowledgeable when it comes to animals. Katie is an excellent pet care giver. She loves animals and is studying to be a veterinarian. So, not only is she loving and caring with the animals, she is knowledgeable in pet first aid and health care, and caring for special needs pets. Katie has cared for our dogs numerous times over the years and has done an excellent job every time. They love her.

I really like to keep pets as close as I can to the schedule that they are used to. I would like for my visits to be as minimally disruptive to their schedule as I can so that when their owners return it’s like they never left. This flexibility helps keep pets and their people at ease.

I will need to know what medications, supplements, or any special needs or medical conditions your pet may have so I can be better prepare for them. I will also need to know about any behavior concerns and their triggers. This will not prevent me from caring for your pet, but help me prepare for them to keep myself and your pet safe.
A typical day
I absolutely love to play any games that pets love to do (tug of war with rope toys, fetch, feather toys for cats) to help keep them occupied and entertained. I also really like to play puzzle games with them as well to stimulate them mentally.

I am currently a full time student, but my schedule allows for plenty of time to care for your pets. I spend quite a bit of time outside of class studying, which makes me a great candidate for house sitting!
