Hello! My name is Katie, and I would be thrilled to care for your dog while you are away. You will be able to relax on your vacation knowing that your dog is in a safe and secure environment being treated as a member of the family. I have been involved in pet care in the Los Angeles area for several years. Most recently, I walked and sat hundreds of dogs through an app-based service. I've also worked for a friend with her own pet care company and I've taken care of pets for friends and family. About my home: This home is warm and friendly; your dog will experience a lot of love during his or her stay! Two cats live with here, too. They are well adjusted and used to dogs in the home. I have doggy-sat since they were kittens, so they don't I am mind having company. I live in an apartment loft that is almost 900 square feet, with a downstairs kitchen, living area and bathroom, and an upstairs bedroom. It is a very tranquil place for pets with little street noise and only occasional barking from the neighbor dogs. About me: I am experienced with dogs of all shapes and sizes, and with special needs dogs, too. Whether your dog is typical or has conditions that require extra attention, I can give them all the care they need. My training includes Best Friends Animal Society/ NKLA's "gray paw" class. This is for experienced volunteers to learn the best methods for working with difficult animals. This includes dogs with special needs (blind, deaf, etc), illness, behavioral problems and physical limitations. About my pets: I grew up with dogs, cats and rabbits and love animals. In middle school, I was a latch-key kid and was given a boxer as a companion in the afternoons. Our family got another boxer a few years later and both were beloved pets. The older of the two had problems with tumors but eventually passed away from old age. The younger dog suffered from arthritis and was in treatment under traditional veterinary care and holistic pet medicine throughout his life. I have lots of experience caring for him and am very sympathetic to special needs pets. I currently have three cats who were rescued in Los Angeles. They are FIV and Fel Leukemia negative, up to date on their shots, and spayed and neutered (respectively). House-sitting: If your dog is not cat-friendly I am more than happy to look after your pet in his or her own home. I often house-sit while caring for pets. While I am there, I am happy to do light cleaning, water plants, retrieve mail and newspapers, and keep your home secure. Home stays would involve sleeping over in order to give the dog his or her evening walk and morning walk and feeding. If necessary, I can also do a midday walk around lunchtime.
