Pet care experience
Hello, my name is Kate. I have been pet-sitting since 2017. Animals are my passion. I work in rescue and help Admin a large lost and found pet Facebook group. I have a large fenced-in backyard and a safe neighborhood to walk your dog(s) in. Since some people have a negative view of mobile homes, I want to be upfront with you. I live in a mobile home just outside the city limits. While it may not be the prettiest home to look at, it is home. It’s my home and I’m blessed to have it. It is a cozy, comfortable, safe place to live and take care of fur babies. I offer services for dogs, cats, and other small animals. If you're new to Rover ask me about my promo code for $20 off your first booking! Please note, that I do not watch pets with separation anxiety. I work all holidays.
Reviews
Katie did great with my pups. She was consistent and kept in touch if there were any issues.
Katie was great. She replied and kept me updated on Bear. He was able to play in her big yard so I know he had a blast!
Katie H. sent only relevant messages, arrived on time and was gracious above and beyond expectations. I first booked two dogs, Mandy and Clarice. At the last minute she agreed to my adding a third dog, Winnie. Clarice was old, was diabetic and was not friendly due to her condition. Mandy was a normal, active 3-year old and Winnie was a 5-month old puppy. Katie sent us a couple of photos, and all three dogs were perfectly calm when we arrived after our event. This was my first experience with Rover.com, and I am truly impressed thanks to Katie.
***WARNING*** Do NOT Recommend!!! Apologize in advance for the below rant... I came across Katie’s profile, and it read well with a lot of good reviews, so, I reached out to her on 5/23,and discussed the stay, no issues. It was noted that we would not be able to view the inside of the home as a request from the sitter due to Covid 19 concerns. On 5/26 we brought our pets to Katie’s home. Upon dropping off Gizmo and Bella, Bella was weary, and adamant at not wanting to go with Katie. Katie allowed me to walk Bella to the yard, but as discussed, I was unable to go inside the home. The yard was unkept but looked secure with it being fully fenced. Using Rover before, I am accustomed to receiving daily updates from the sitters with photos and/or videos of both pets. During the 11 day stay only 5 photos were received – 3 of the cat, 2 of the dog. On 6/5 we proceeded to Katie’shome to pick up Bella and Gizmo. When we arrived, Katie was ready for us outside. She let us know that Gizmo had gotten into something sticky, he was fine, but his hair was sticky. Once we started to drive off, immediately we noticed that the pets smelled awful, a mixture of defecation and funk. We decided that we would bathe them both straight away when we arrived home. While letting Gizmo out of his backpack carrier we noticed that it had been peed in, and he was drenched in urine – Gizmo has traveled many times via car and airplane for multiple hours at a time, and has NEVER relieved himself within his carrier. The liner for the carrier was also missing, leaving us to speculate if he was kept in the carrier for long periods, had relieved himself in the carrier, and the liner was removed, possibly to be cleaned/dried? One of the carrying straps was broken. Both animals are NOT fans of bathing, and it’s usually a struggle to get them in the water, but BOTH took the time to drink as much as they could as soon as the water was turned on, leaving us to speculate on their hydration levels. Both animals had to be bathed multiple times to get clean – Gizmo’s hair was very sticky, smelled of urine and was matted. During the bathing we noticed that both were covered in bites, and upon closer inspection it was noticed that they both were covered in fleas. We then immediately went to the pet store and purchased flea shampoo, topical flea inhibitors, and flea spray for our home and vehicle. Gizmo had an allergic reaction to the flea bites causing him drainage via his eyes, nose, and mouth, as well as vomiting and diarrhea. These symptoms are carrying on to today (6/20) and expected to last another week as his body heals. Both animals were dehydrated, and Bella was unable to poop for 2 days after coming home...She normally goes 2-3 times per day. This experience was awful, and this was a horrible situation to come home to. I feel awful for what my fur babies went through. I wish I would have read Bella’s reaction upon arriving, as she is normally so excited to meet with a new sitter. I’m sure Katie has a love for animals and means well, but there are serious concerns that need to be addressed, and I would not feel safe to leave my animals there again, and I would never recommend her to anyone.

I live on a 1.5+ acre lot. I have a nice shaded fenced-in backyard for your fur babies to safely romp around and play in. Since some of my dogs like to dig, as well as some of my clients' dogs, some of the yard is grass but some of it is dirt. This means that your fur baby will probably get dirty. This is a good indication that your fur baby was actively having a good time in my care. If you need a towel to wipe your fur baby off before your fur baby goes home, please let me know. Oftentimes the grass outside of the fenced-in backyard may be a little taller than what you are used to. I tend to let it grow, which is actually good for the environment and outdoor critters. Speaking of outdoor critters, I have pest control come out quarterly to spray around the perimeter of my home and yard. Unfortunately, fleas and ticks sometimes still show up. Having your pet on a flea and tick preventative, even if not booking with me, is a good idea.

Information Katie H. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know about your pet's personality and any special needs. Other than that, I have no preference in breed, gender, age, etc. I do not accept care of pets with separation anxiety or pets with a history of biting.
A typical day
I have a large fenced in backyard, and have a safe neighborhood to walk your dog(s) in. While playing in the yard, they may be dusty on return, there's a lot of dirt to roll in! (There's also plenty of grass.) They will have lots of fun playing with me and my dogs. I have wading pools, a covered area in the backyard, logs, etc. (Summer/nice weather.)
