Ready to assist with pet care needs

Pet care experience

Hi there! My name is Katie, and I would love to assist you with any help you may need with your pets! I have lots of experience with a wide range of animals, from dogs and cats to birds and rabbits! I am also a veterinary technician so I have no problem handling any medications your pet may need if you are away, and can also perform basic grooming work such as pedicures, anal gland expressions and of course baths. I work 4 days during the week but am available after work to care for your pets on those days, and of course weekends! I am looking to earn some money aside from my main job to help with student debt and necessities in general, so I thought this would be a really great way to earn due to the fact that I love to take care of animals and can also do others a favor at the same time. I can provide references if needed! Thank you so much!

I'm sad to say that after 2 positive stays, we will not be returning to Katie's home. While we were on vacation this past time we found out that she took our dog to someone else's home, we're not sure the duration of the time, she claims it was only for a few hours, however, if that were true, his blanket didn't need to be with him. When we picked him up, his blanket was missing and that is when she told us what had happened, and where our dog was. She said it was because there were house cleaners, but I'm not sure why the dogs couldn't have been outside in HER yard. There was no communication from her regarding this change in plans and I found that unsettling. What if something happened to my dog at the other persons home? What if he got out, or hit by a car? These are things that I cannot chance and for that, we will not be returning to Katie's. As you can see I have posted very positive in the past, and yes, it takes one bad experience for me and that's it. My dog is my "child" and is one of my top priorities. He is now very jumpy to noises and that was never an issue before. I am hopeful that it wont last long now that he realizes he is home.

Doc had another great stay! When dropped off I was told he got all excited to see his friends at Katie's house - her German Sheppard. Doc came home again super tired from all the play time he gets there. Thanks Katie for taking such great care of our boy!

Doc was well cared for and Katie was super responsive with every question and update I asked for. It was our first time leaving our boy with someone that wasn't family so we were nervous. We had a friend pick him up for us on our last day out of town and he said that everything went so smooth and Doc was all smiles when he arrived. We dropped off all of his food, toys, and his blanket so he could feel at home and he did! We will be calling Katie again for our sitting needs!

We hate to give a negative review, Katie does seem to be a nice person, however our booking was scary, horrible, and stressful for our dog. This was our first booking on Rover.com and it really just was a bad and scary situation all around. While staying with Katie, our Corgi was attacked by her German Shepard. We were notified about the situation a day later and the communication came in the form of a text message. Imagine being 3000 miles away and getting a text message that your dog had a cut near her eye and was needing a vet! What makes matters worse, the communication of all of this came a day later. The attack happened the night before, and again, the communication was via Text Message. No physical phone call or heads up on the date of the incident. I also would like to note, call it an attack based on what I see, physical evidence of the injuries. I don't know how long it occurred, probably short, but the near fact it happened was and is a huge concern to any owner. No one want's their animal to be put into a stressful and harming situation. Katie did do well by sending our dog to a vet, we did thank her heavily for this. Though we had a few exchanges on what to exactly do. We also had to request pictures, as you can imagine we were very concerned and needed more information. We felt helpless being so far away. Katie seemed to want to "fill us in" when we were back in town, a week later, and when picking up our dog. Obviously we were not going to wait a week to understand what happened and we physically reached out to her via phone to determine what exactly happened. Up to that point, no communication via phone. Requesting of pictures and what not were made on our behalf. In short, there was no proactive communication from Katie, which is really not fair or right to a owner. When speaking with Katie, she explained this as over a bone, it appeared it was a small fight and everything was fine. She explained there was a cut near the eye lid of our dog. She also explained the vet visit and medication provided. We were happy that it didn't seem to be too horrible and asked for updates daily on the condition of our dog. To our surprise, we didn't get any text messages or phone calls the next day. Once again, we had to issue a text to get some updates, we also requested more pictures. Fast forward to the day we arrived back in California, I headed over to pick up our dog. I was greeted by Katies mother, who handed me a vet bill. She explained there was a injuries to our dogs cheek as well as eye lid. At this point it was clear that there maybe more injuries to my dog, I quickly gathered our dog and stuff and headed home to check my dog out in the comfort of our home. To my surprise, there was a puncher wound on her cheek, opposite of the eye wound side, and two punchers on her snout as well as the eye lid injury. Clearly, it appears her head was in the mouth of a bigger dog's. What was upsetting about this whole situation was lack of communication and or explaining of all the details and injuries. I was just shocked. I felt horrible, I left my dog and she was hurt. Overall, I cannot recommend using Katie based on my experience. My recommendations for Katie is to always keep your customer informed, don't wait to report a situation like this. Send regular and timely updates as well. I know things can happen between animals, sometimes it is out of our control, however there is no excuse for not reaching out or waiting to do so. It is also not right to withhold information, such as the extent of injuries to someone's animal. It's just not right nor fair. I obviously reported this to Rover.com. whom has been wonderful in assisting me with this whole situation. I would highly recommend everyone taking the time to read your insurance that comes with Rover.com as well. I will say Rover.com has been extremely helpful and quick with assisting our needs and with this situation as a whole.

Here's where we'll take our walks I take my own dogs on walks in my neighborhood down the street to a park, where we spend time playing fetch or sniffing around, which is where I will take your pups on walks to! Your dog's sleeping arrangement If your dog is crate trained, we have crates available that they can stay in the house or in the garage, (or of course you can bring your pups) but usually they sleep in my living room on the floor, their bed, or my pups beds! Time I'll spend with your dog At the least, 5-6 hours.
