Pet care experience
I am a dog and cat owner and caretaker with a deep-rooted passion for dogs of all breeds and sizes, cats, and all other animals. This passion has only grown stronger throughout my nearly 5 years of volunteering at 4 Luv of Dog Rescue as a socializer/walker for our cuddly creatures living at the shelter. I truly love and work hard to understand animals, and I am always empathetic to their specific needs- especially after working with so many different, quirky personalities at the shelter. When watching pets, what is best and most comfortable for them is always top priority in all situations. I love my own pets so very much and I want nothing more than to love your pets just the same while you have a stress-free time away from home.

I have known Katie for some time and know first hand of her passion of animals. It was because of that passion that I asked Katie to watch my little Sasha while we were out of state attending a wedding. Sasha was 16 and had some health issues and was deaf. He was very quirky and didn't like to be out of my sight so when my nephew got married I knew in order to go I would have to trust someone with giving him the care and loving attention that I did. Katie was that person. She came over several times prior to the date to get to know him and let me fill her in on all his quirks. He loved her from the beginning, which made leaving him much easier. Katie not only stayed at my house, but made arrangements to make sure he was not alone for more then 2 hours, if she had to go out. She took time to make his special foods, lots of cuddle time, and sent me updates and pictures during the entire time we were gone. I can't tell you how much that meant. She went above and beyond to make his time away from me less stressful for him and gave him the much needed love and care that allowed him to feel safe and secure, and more importantly loved. You couldn't find a better person to care for your fur-baby then Katie!!
I've known Katie for a few years now, and I've always been incredibly impressed with her love of animals. When we travel, we almost always take our two small doggos with us, but last March we had to go without them for the first time. I asked Katie to stay at our house with the babies, and not only did she agree to stay there for a few days, she cleared her calendar so that she could stay home and snuggle them. She also sent updates throughout the day including pics of sweet doggies. I know that when she babysits, I don't have to worry about anything at all. She's trustworthy, honest, and loves our dogs like we do!

I do not have breed preferences. I love ALL breeds. It is important for me to know if your dog does not like other dogs/animals, has any stranger-danger, leash reactivity, does not like kids, does not like certain noises or movements, has any allergies, medical issues, specific diets, is up to date on vaccines, etc. I like to know these things so I can keep dogs out of any situations that could harm them, and to make sure they are safe and healthy in my care. I would also love to know what they love! Favorite toys, favorite tricks, favorite games or favorite places to be scratched.
A typical day
If staying at your home, I love to walk and explore around the neighborhood! Otherwise, for a change of scenery, I love to take dogs on car rides (if they enjoy them) to other areas and trails around town. Whatever the dog and owner are comfortable with. If it's too cold, too hot, your dog has restricted activity, or just wants to play inside, I love to mentally challenge dogs with treat puzzles, toys, and training. Mental exercise is equally as important as physical exercise. When pets are staying in my home, I keep our cat separated from all new animals in a different area of the home. He prefers to lounge in his room upstairs as the commotion of unfamiliar animals can scare him.
