The home for your best friend!!

Pet care experience

EDIT: Moved overseas, this profile is on hold until I return to the US. Best of luck with your search for a sitter. You want the best for your dog, and that's what I have to offer! I will care for your dog at the best value available per night. I do everything possible to ensure your dog's safety by using safe handling practices and 'listen' to your dog's expressed or implied needs. In addition to park-time adventures, grooming and car rides, you can expect daily 'pupdates' with photos on how your dog is doing. If you want to see my credentials, check out my experience below. Experience: I have worked with several rescues handling aggressive, traumatized and hyper dogs, doing transportation and rehabilitation. I have worked with closely and frequently behavioral analysts and veterinarians. Current science on how to best train, feed and love your dog are important, and I do my best to stay current by staying connected with the dog-caring community and doing independent research. I also have experience breaking up dog fights and understand a dog's behavioral cues, which helps me remain in touch with any given situation so that I can act preventatively instead of reactively when I am with my dogs. If your dog has aggressive tendencies, please let me know what his/her triggers are! Penny (my dog) is a rehabilitated abuse victim. Together we have rehabilitated, trained and socialized several successfully adopted, high-needs shelter dogs. We would love to take care of your pooch too! Contact me ASAP to reserve my services and make sure your dog is well cared by someone with experience, who understands your dog and their needs, so that you can rest worry free.

I left my dog with Katie for almost a week. She took wonderful care of him, and sent me tons of photos throughout. She was very accommodating- I was traveling internationally, and she downloaded the required apps to communicate. Most importantly, when I picked up my dog, I was certain he loved his stay and seemed really happy. She even gave him a bath. She genuinely seems to care a lot for dogs and she go out of the way to make them feel comfortable. I would certainly recommend her services, and will definately be using her services again at Austin.

Katie was a loving and conscientious caretaker for my dog. He was with her for 9 days (long time!) and she gave him lots of attention including walks, car rides, and grooming.

Katie is very loving toward animals. She adopted a beautiful Boxer from a rescue group and has done an excellent job of training her. She is also very good with our dog and cat. I recommend her highly.

For everyone's safety, I insist on a meet and greet for all dogs and people involved! Meet and greets are complimentary (FREE) and happen at a neutral location. However if you feel your meet and greet needs to exceed a total of 15 minutes, please book me for a 30 minute walk. Why is a meet and greet important? Meet and greets allow your dog to get comfortable with me and help me asses whether I can work with your dog successfully. If my dog is involved, it helps me make sure the two (three) dogs are compatible. Helpful tips to keep meet and greets FREE: Meet and greets are NOT time to coordinate schedules or find out information readily available on this site. Please confirm times and dates via text beforehand. Keep the conversation dog focused, if it doesn't affect me or your dog chances are it's not relevant and takes more time than it's worth to you. In an effort not to waste your time, you can expect the use of a timer. Do not take this personally! Meet and greets have lasted over an hour in my experience and it is almost NEVER beneficial to anyone involved. Your time is precious and I will do my best to safeguard it. Things you should pack to provide for your pup include adequate food, bedding, bowls, poop bags, beloved toys, and instructions. Instructions should include feeding habits, medical concerns/conditions, medications used, behavioral tendencies, potty/eating schedule, triggers, preferences and other habits. Does your dog overdose on water until they throw up? Mention it! Does your dog randomly drag their butt on the floor? Help keep me and all the dogs I care for safe by disclosing any information regarding little details. I will message if something unexpected appears. If you forgot to mention a condition during the meet and greet, no sweat! However, please be prepared to fully disclose any information regarding your dog once they are in my care via text or phone call. Thank you!!! Can't make it to a 3rd party location? I can come to you too! If you would like me to drive to your apartment for the meet and greet, please book me for a 30 minute walk to compensate me for drive time, mileage and gasoline. After you book me, we can find a time for the meet and greet. If your dog is staying over the weekend, please pick up your dog within two hours of the time you drop him/her off. For example, you drop of your dog at 4pm on Friday, you would pick up your dog no later than 6pm on Saturday. Please do not pick up your dog later than two hours after the time you dropped him/her off on the following day or days. Same thing for longer stays, if you drop off your dog at 10am on Thursday for 3 days, please pick up no later than noon on Saturday. Think of each over-night as paying for a 24 hour block of time with a 2 hour grace period. EXTRA SERVICES: such as grooming/bathing/nail trim and pick-ups/drop offs are available at little to no charge. Please see my price chart for more information. Pick-up/drop off services are round trip, if you only need drop off or only pick up, we can edit the price accordingly. Thanks for taking the time to read this and being an awesome client! I can't wait to meet your pup!! :D

A typical day

You can expect walking, running, swimming, health-conscious toy chewing, home-made organic treats, ear scratching and belly rubs! I take your dog's safety seriously, that applies to how your dog interacts with other dogs, whether the dog is elderly, what your dog eats and where your dog plays. Please let me know if your dog has any particular habits/needs, just because you might be out of town doesn't mean that your dog needs to undergo a massive lifestyle change! Consistency for dogs is crucial to their stress levels and key to building trusting, positive relationships. In the event your dog develops a health condition while in my care, you will be the first the know and can expect that I will handle it appropriately. I will work with you every step of the way and will monitor your dog very closely. In some less extreme cases I may find conditions and or remedies that you didn't know about previously. It is not uncommon for dogs to leave my care happier and healthier than they came in. While it is not required that you pay me extra for giving this extra level of care, please consider reimbursing me for the expense of taking your dog(s) to the vet on your behalf, the expertise involved in recognizing the condition, addressing it and any over the counter remedies I purchase specifically for your dog to take home.
