We speak dog!

Pet care experience

I am a stay at home mom, caring for my active grown-up daughter, Sarah, who has Down syndrome. We have almost always had a dog in our lives but are presently without pets. We adore the company of dogs and it is marvelous to see how Sarah brightens up when she has a dog to love her/love back. We would love to have your dog to spoil and keep us company on our daily walks! On the weekends when my husband is home (he's a teacher) we often go for hikes and will happily bring your dog along for the adventure. We have a comfortable house with a large, fully fenced back yard, literally just steps from miles and miles of walking trails. There is also a school play field just across the street where many people bring their dogs to play when school is not in session. We will provide your dog with lots of devotion and loving care and will do all we can to help your dog feels at home whether he is used to being indoors or living outside. I am a certified medical assistant and am quite comfortable with giving injections and other forms of medication. We are open to caring for your dog for just a few hours or for stays of several days and promise to welcome him into our daily lives. While my rate usually remains as posted, in cases of afternoon or evening pick-up or dogs requiring a lot of extra care, we may need to discuss an increase. We're looking forward to meeting you and your dog! Why I love dog sitting I can't remember when I haven't loved dogs. There have been very few periods in my life when I haven't had a dog - my dog is my best friend. Since moving from the San Juan islands in 2011 I have been dog-less. Dog sitting has helped to fill that gap. Another great benefit is watching how my daughter Sarah, who has Down Syndrome has responded. She absolutely lights up in the company of dogs and they love her right back! Meet my pets No other pets About my yard I have a large, fully fenced back yard. Digging allowed! My experience administering medication Yes. As a certified medical assistant I am comfortable drawing up and administering injections. Just show me how you prefer to do it.

Kathy is so good, she took a good care to my puppy and spent a lot of time to took him out for walk! I love to see all the pictures of my puppy when I was on vacation! Highly recommended. Thank you so much Kathy.

My dog, who is elderly, had the time of her life...she was like a puppy. She was not just tended, but loved and felt like she was part of the family. I highly recommend Kathy.

Our dog Hugsy had such a fun day with Kathy and her daughter. Kathy posted some adorable photos of their walk together with the other guest dogs. When I picked up Hugsy at the end of the day, Hugsy was excited to see me, of course, but then she went back to Kathy to give some kisses and say goodbye. We will definitely be back!

Information Kathy L. would like to know about your pet

I will ask you plenty of questions when we first meet, but foremost, I would want to know if your dog is up to date with his vaccinations, whether there are any special medical or safety concerns, how he gets along with other dogs, feeding needs and preferences, how he likes to play and, of course, what you feel I should know.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks Our neighborhood has great places to walk. We are literally steps from miles and miles of trails. One of our favorite and most frequent walks is from our home to Whatcom Falls Park, a round trip of about four and a half miles. On our less ambitious days or when we have older dogs we may go to the dog park or just wander around on our many interesting side streets. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Wherever he wants. We have a dog bed in the living room but if he is terribly homesick he can sleep in our bedroom. Time I'll spend with your dog Your dog will hang out with me wherever I am. Mostly I am home but if I do go out he can ride along. Every day includes a walk.
