Since a very young age, I have had strong relationships with animals due to growing up around all different sorts of pets. I even had my own Pet-Sitting Company in my neighborhood called "Pet Sitters R Us" from the age of 8-13. I was the only trusted pet sitter for our entire neighborhood. Not only that, but my mother and I have rescued a number of kittens, puppies, wounded birds, opossums, and more. We took care of them by nursing them back to health, making them feel safe and cared for, and then when they were ready gave them to the proper sanctuaries, rescues, or no-kill shelters. In my adult life, I have helped friends get accustomed to their own pets and animals if it was their first time, I have continued to pet-sit and watch friends/family members animals when they are out of town, and some consider me extended family because of the bond I have with their pet. My strategy is to build trust and relationship with your furr-baby by taking care of them, being intuitive to what they need and how they feel, and making sure their needs are being met in your absence. Through the trust and relationship(s) I build with your pet(s), our trust will grow as well.
