Pet care experience
hiking trails, dog parks, nature or neighborhood walks! I have been a big animal lover since childhood and always took internships and apprenticeships working with vets and animal rescues. Growing up I worked with bobcats, bears, foxes, sharks, goats, chickens, reptiles and birds. As an adult I became a Registered Nurse and often am the one caring for a friend or family members pet while they are traveling, or when I am home and they are working. I heard about this new site and thought I should give it a try. I have had cats and dogs as an adult, including Buta, a well behaved, professionally trained lab mix He was a happy, loving pup with extensive health problems including two TPOL surgeries and severe, life threatening allergies. Our 12 years with Buta taught me oodles about how to medically care for dogs. I take pride in my integrity, level of commitment to learning and listening to the needs of my clients and their pets. Pets like me as I am usually paying attention and in turn, quite often hear their needs and address them. Be it to let them out to do their business, walk them, feed them, love them, give them their medicine, praise them, keep them safe, even reinforce the training of the owners at their request. I am a softy who knows that routine, good food and security are crucial in an animal's happiness. Gentle reinforcement of training and rules requested by the owner are also crucial. I am excited to take some time away from the past year of working more than 40 hours a week as a RN during the pandemic. Caring for your pet will not only be a fun, safe vacation for them, it will also provide me restorative happiness! I have laminate hardwood flooring with machine washable area rugs in an 900 square foot 2 bedroom 1 bath home with no other pets. There is a door to a large fenced in yard a that is totally enclosed. We live near a dog park and great trail, which is puppy paradise!
Reviews
Kathryn went above and beyond for my disabled, slightly traumatized rescue, Maxwell. She kept me updated with lots of pics and videos and even gave him some good behavior modification training. He was with her for longer than I've ever had him away, and it was clear that he felt very comfortable and safe with her throughout the entire time. He was in no rush to leave when I picked him up, which is NEVER the case. Kathryn will be a great sitter for your fur baby. She will love them like her own. Highly recommend.
Kathryn was so sweet with our Tillie! She took her to the beach for a nice long walk and play. I highly recommend!
Kathryn did an amazing job with our puppy Moana. We are first-time dog parents and this was our first time leaving Moana with someone else. Kathryn was incredibly understanding about our fears and sent several messages, pics, and videos throughout the day which alleviated our anxiety tremendously. She kept Moana busy throughout the day and Moana came back a very happy and very tired dog! It's easy for us to see from her behavior after getting home that Moana had a great time and that Kathryn took such good care of her that Moana didn't even notice that we were gone (which is heartbreaking for me, but that's still a good thing!). Thank you so much, Kathryn!
Kathryn did an incredible job with both of my dogs. I have a 2yr old 80lb lab and an 1yr old English Cocker Spaniel. Both dogs have an abundance of energy. Kathryn took them on hikes, to the park, and even played fetch in the yard. She was very responsive and kept me updated on how they were doing. The girls had the vacation of their life!

In my own home, I offer a safe space with a gated yard. I will go outside with the dog every hour. I am with your dog at all times. In the home, I provide stainless steel pet bowls with water and for food. I also place a few bowls of water throughout the house to encourage the dog to drink fresh water where they feel most comfortable.. If treats are allowed. I place treats throughout the home so as the dog familiarizes themselves with my home, they find treats! There is a place for dog bed, an area for toys, and they are allowed on my bed and furniture ( if owner allows this). I am familiar with crate training, but do not have my own crate, if you bring a crate, I will place it where the dog feels safest. In your home, I will ask you what the daily routine is for the dog, and then, like I would in my own home, play with them, snuggle with them, offer them to go outside every 1-2 hours, and go for 1-2 30 plus minute walks while with them. If the dog prefers playing indoors, I will provide at least 2 30 minute play sessions so that your dog receives adequate exercise. I will follow the same routine daily, based on what the routine at home with your dog. For example, if your pup wakes up at 6 am for a walk, we will wake up at 6 am for a walk. If your dog eats at 6 am and 6 pm, this will be when they eat with me.

Information Kathryn P. would like to know about your pet
If possible, I like to meet via video or on person to review your pets daily routine, such as when they do their business, eat, walk, sleep and so on. What commands does the dog respond to? Is there any training you’d like me to reinforce? Does your pet have any medications or food restrictions? Is there anything else unique to your pet that you’d like me to know? From there, I like to review a plan of how I will care for your pet then fine tune it with you, if needed.
A typical day
I like to think the dogs I care for know that when with me they will have a safe, fun, dog oriented adventure that will leave them happy and well rested because we live near Crissy Field and the Presidio we often walk there. Other times, depending on the dog, we may take a longer adventure such as a hike in Marin County!

Availability
I work as a travel nurse since 2020. As of March 2024 my current assignment has ended, so I have ample time to help you. My foster hospice dog also passed away at the end of February, so I currently have no pets living with me .
