Pet care experience
Hi there! My name is Kathryn and I am from Michigan, but have just moved back after 2 years in Portland. I live in a very dog-friendly home with my boyfriend. We are both highly experienced dog owners/sitters/lovers. I, myself, have had 5 different kinds of dogs throughout my life - a German Shepherd mix (my pound puppy), a jack russell, a husky (NEVER got tired no matter how many bike rides I took him on), and an English Golden Retriever and Morkie. I have also been the proud "adopted" mom to two pitbulls. We have been to training and obedience classes with all of our dogs - so we’re very well in tune with how each personality reacts to taking commands ... and those who don't. I am well versed in crate training, training with treats, training with a clicker, etc. Many times we hear people say they're afraid to leave their dog with other people because their dog doesn't get along well with other dogs or isn't house trained or is just generally a grumpy stubborn dog set in it's ways. We have heard and dealt with it all! Additionally, both myself and my boyfriend are remote workers. So we will not be leaving your doggo for long periods of time (we can promise that!). I do have my own car and live in a very safe area where there are many other dogs and runners and people always enjoying the outdoors. While we do have close neighbors, they all have dogs, and we are all quite used to hearing barking at all hours of the day & night - so please, do not worry if your doggo loves to talk! We can't wait to meet you and your dog!

Couldn’t have been happier with the Job Kat and Dom did house sitting for our two pets. Was pleasantly surprised how quickly our two dogs bonded with them during the meet and greet. The great communication and pictures really set us at ease on our trip as it was clear our puppies were enjoying their time with Kat and Dom. Would heartily recommend and hope to use them again in the future.
It was really nice feeling comfortable and confident that our dogs and our home were being taken care of. I would love to have Kat and Dom come back again. Thank you so much.
Kat and Dom are the best! Sloan always comes home happy and very well cared for. We’re both going to miss them when they leave Portland!

I live in a beautiful neighborhood that provides many walking trails, a lake to hike around, and a very large yard. I also am very comfortable in new environments and situations. I always try and make the dog feel safe and secure - as they should in their own home! I tend to leave everything as I found it, if not better.
Information Kathryn D. would like to know about your pet
Absolutely no breed preferences. I love them all and have dealt with them all! I would like to know about any behavioral issues such as social anxieties with other people or animals, what their usual routine looks like and if they're level of activeness (for example, can they handle a more strenuous hike or would a simple walk around the park suffice?). And if they're potty trained, in the middle of crate training, not trained at all. I'm okay with all levels, as again, I've been there! But, just as a heads up for me ... and my stack of paper towels!
A typical day
There is a large walkway right on the river behind my apartment that stretches from the boardwalk to the Saturday market. I'm a 4-minute walk to two different parks in the downtown area. I am also an avid hiker and would enjoy going up into the hills where there are trails that have yet to be explored. Beyond that, I love playing tug of war and throwing the ball. There's also a dog-friendly cafe right across the street, so if your dog is more lowkey and loves to be more like a living, breathing carpet (like my golden retriever), then sitting down with a cup of coffee and relaxing in a changing scene is always an option.

I work from home, as does my boyfriend, so we are around 24/7 and will be readily available for all of your dogs needs! We really do make taking care of your dog our number one priority.
