Hello there! My name is Kayte, and I am a young professional living right in the liberty park area. I know this goes without saying, but I love dogs. I see time with dogs as a stress relief, so I have often sought extra time with dogs. I grew up spending lots of time walking our family dogs (huskies, malamutes, and doodles). After I moved off to college and graduate school, I didn't have time for my own pup so I took up dog sitting. Finally, four years ago I became co-parent to a collie/spaniel mix with anxiety and other health issues. Recently, we adopted a old malamute puppy, who is a lot of work, but so worth it! I love my dogs, and I'd love to meet and take care of yours too! I have experience with dog sitting, dog walking, providing meals, playing, navigating emergency vet appointments, and overnight stays. Having a special needs dog myself, I do have experience with medication delivery and monitoring health. I would love to meet you and your pups to see how I could help out! I work M-F 8:00am-5:00pm at the VA as a psychology researcher. I am available in the mornings or evenings to stop by for an in home visit or take your doggo for a walk. Majority of my weekends are free!

Kathryn "Kayte" took care of our chickens and cats while we were out of town for nine days. She gave updates with every visit, took notes on care duties that needed to be done, took in our mail and helped us water the plants. I do not have any breed preferences. I always like to know a dogs habits, routine, fears (scary sounds or types of touch they not comfortable with), health history, and behavior history (e.g., are there certain non-food items they are inclined to eat). It also helps me to know how to read their mood, so I can monitor how they are doing with me and also monitor for any changes in health. For example, when my dog doesn't seem interested in water, I know to keep an eye on her health.
A typical day
For walks and playtime I defer to the recommendations of the family. I also love hiking and have a dog proof car and am willing to take dogs on hikes in Millcreek. However, I would only do this once I have gotten to know the dog's temperament and I have the family's permission. Other activities include playing fetch, tug of war, or chase. I can also run dogs for a short distance (1.5 miles) during walks if your dog needs extra exercise.
