I simply LOVE dogs.
Pet care experience
I have been caring for dogs for over 18 years - both my own and, more recently, as a professional dog-sitter. I cared for my own beloved lab Fargo for 14 years - providing therapy swimming, getting him acupuncture and maintaining a nutritious diet and appropriate medication to keep him healthy and pain-free. And I recently adopted Hattie Mae - a resue pitbull with the biggest heart imaginable. Fargo was a therapy dog/Canine Good Citizen and Hattie Mae is as well. I just love how dogs can provide so much healing for us humans! I treat every dog as if they are a family member - ensuring their every need is met - whether it's a special meal plan or extra cuddling if they are anxious. I'm especially fond of dogs who need an extra bit of attention - whether they're older or just have special needs. I'm new to the Forestville area and can't wait to meet your dog!

I love all kinds of dogs. It's my belief that dogs enjoy some kind of instruction so I prefer dogs who have some training ... sit, stay, etc. So I would want to know about their training and behavior. I'm not looking for perfection, just a modicum of good behavior :) I always ask the dogs' owners about their personal preferences and capabilities (i.e. how are they in the car, do they need to go out at night, what kind of activities do they enjoy, are there things that upset them <fireworks, etc.>, and other behavioral particulars). The better I know your dog, the happier they are.
A typical day
I love to take dogs to Tilden and all over San Francisco for walks and hikes. I always bring extra water and make sure I'm attentive to their energy levels to ensure they have an excellent, but safe, adventure. If they prefer staying closer to home I'm an excellent fetch parter or make sure their favorite toy is constantly within chewing distance. And if they prefer - I'm happy to have them up close and personal ... whether it's snuggling on the couch or bed (if it's allowed!) or rolling around on the ground.
