Pet care experience
My name is Kathleen and I am a neuroscience Ph.D. Student looking for more furry friends in my life! I got my first dog when I was 10 and trained her myself by reading several dog training books. She was my companion throughout my childhood and teenage years. I even brought her to senior centers as a therapy dog! So, I became a dog-sitter to spend some quality time with dogs and treat them as my own! I have watched neighbors’ dogs since I was a teenager and have been offering my services on Rover for nearly two years. After being a dog-sitter for years, I finally committed to being a full-time Dog Mom to my Rescue Husky named Gretchen. She is very friendly, social, and loves being around other dogs. Please let me watch your dog so that Gretchen stops asking for a little sister! I live with my partner, Brian, and we typically care for the dogs together. We are both working from home full time. I’ve are very flexible and can care for dogs of all sizes and ages. We hope to meet you and your dog soon!

This was our second time using Kathleen and we will for sure be using her again! It is always a good sign when your dog doesn’t want to leave. She was very responsive, sent updates and pictures, and always kept us in the loop on what they were up to. I highly recommend her!
Kathleen and Brian were amazing. They were very responsive and flexible, provided updates, and took great care of our boy while we were away. He came home happy and tuckered out, evidence that he had a great time. We would definitely recommend them and hope to get the chance for them to watch our dog again in the future!
Kathleen was such a wonderful sitter for Walter! She gave him plenty of exercise, kept us updated, shared pics, and made it so easy to drop off and pick up. He loved his stay!

We only take two dogs at a time, so your dog would have two people fully dedicated to their care. We rarely leave the dogs alone in my apartment. I do not have a yard, so all exercise is done on-leash during walks. I do not bring dogs to off-leash dog parks . On weekends Brian and I like to be active outdoors, so if your dog enjoys being active, we often bring them hiking or to the beach with us! We already go on a lot of walks and adventures with our husky, so we are the perfect sitters for active dogs.

I would like to know the dog’s breed and temperament. For young puppies, I would like some background on training and what needs work. I love working on training puppies!
A typical day
I go for at least two walks/runs with my husky during the day and would love to bring along a pup! During a typical work day, we take the dog on a morning walk, afternoon walk, evening walk, and nighttime walk at a minimum. On the weekends, we love hiking and going to the beach or local park with active dogs. For dogs that like to relax, we’ve taken them out to coffee shops or restaurants with us or just lounged around the house. Sometimes if a dog likes fetch, we will take them to a quite fenced-in park in the morning before other dogs are out.

Availability
I am a PhD student, but for now I am doing all classes and work remotely. So, my schedule is flexible but I typically have a few meetings of classes a day while boarding dogs or house sitting. My partner, Brian, is also working from home with a flexible schedule. So we typically take turns of caring for the dogs during meetings.
