Kat Loves Dogs, No Pun Intended
Pet care experience
Hello, I’m Kat! I’m a lifelong resident of both Brooklyn and the hearts of my family’s seven (7) dogs. At a beastly stature of 5’3”, I’ve taken command of training, walking, medicating, and raising dogs both over half my weight and under a fraction of it for years. Six-year-old dogs have become bilingual — barking and English — without any previous training because of my drive to communicate with pets and find a common ground with them. After losing my own 14-year-old Shih Tzu 3 years ago, I’ve been motivated to turn the love I’ve had for him into a drive to show unconditional care and patience to animals as a thanks to him for being his own fountain of affection even through his most difficult times. In terms of pre-Rover experience, I’ve house-sat for up to a week with a family friend’s three cats and still spend time with an aunt’s two dogs while she’s at work during the week not because I’m needed, but because I love being with them! Now, I’m with two years’ experience working professionally through Rover and through references from other clients! And, over those two yeara, I also got much more intimately familiar with handling cats, both through taking care of my senior cat Mimi before she passed, and through my two new young boys. So... Kat also loves cats! Very much! It is very nice to meet you. :)
Reviews
I cannot say enough good things about Kathleen! She is the only one I trust with my very shy kitty. She is so patient and loving with him, and takes very good care of him whenever I am away!
Your search is over: Kat is the best pet sitter! She's honest, kind, and really goes the extra mile to ensure the best care for any animal. When my spouse and I went on long work trips, separated from our precious fur babies, reading Kat's written reports (with pics and vids!) was the antidote to our homesickness. The amount of thought I'm putting into this review is only a fraction of the love and care Kat puts into her reports!! We've since moved to a new country in March, and we're sad not to have Kat as our sitter anymore. But rest assured, that I don't think I'll ever find a better pet sitter ever again!
Kathleen is the only one I trust with my kitty! She takes such good care of him every time.
I loving sitter who cares for animals as if they were her own children! We will absolutely be working her in the future!!

I make sure to follow every instruction provided to a T to ensure that you still have full control over your home while I occupy it to take care of your little loves. :) I am major on affection, and especially with making sure I provide the most welcomed+comfortable amounts & types of affection for each individual pet. I provide photos whenever an instruction is given not only for the pet, but for any general house upkeep needed (having doors closed, having lights on/off, watering plants, etc). As someone with both anxiety and OCD, I understand the exact level of nervousness that comes with leaving your furry family members and your house to someone you are newly forging a bond with, so I am open to any questions+requests at all to let you feel most capable of trusting me and knowing that you and your pet will be okay.
Information Kathleen K. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know a dog’s general temperament before sitting them, and what types of affection they do (and do not!) respond best to. I also would like to be informed if they’re known for any sneaky habits (knocking over garbage cans, for example, which my own dog was infamous for) so I know what to keep an eye on. I have no breed preferences!
A typical day
It all depends on the dog and the area! I’m familiar with dogs who are incredibly outgoing and dogs who are incredibly shy and nervous, so I like to base walk routes on that. For shy dogs, I’d go to areas with less foot traffic, and for outgoing dogs, I’d help them navigate more active areas with caution given to their potential interactions with other dogs and/or people. Once dogs are tired out, I like to give them a comfy space to lie down and get in some pets and pats.

Availability
I have been working full-time with Rover, making it the primary moon that my earth (see: time/availability) revolves around! I have been available every day of the week, and at any time of day! I also am incredibly flexible so long as I don’t have bookings/requests that overlap with one another — short notice is no bother to me :)
