Hey! I am Katherine. I just joined rover, but I am and have been a bonded and insured professional pet sitter and dog walker for some of South, Central, and East Austin's furry (and scaly and feathery) friends since 2016. I have cared for dogs, cats, lizards, birds, fish, toads, turtles, etc. and am always eager to learn more about our animal companions. I have also worked in various other professional setting with pets. For a portion of the summer in high school, I shadowed veterinarian Dr. Jennifer Lavender at Metro Paws Animal Hospital in Dallas, TX as she interacted with patients and performed procedures. Also in high school, I trained my dog to be Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dogs International certified so he would be well behaved when I took him for library children's reading programs and nurse-rehab centers. In the summertime during college, I both volunteered for and worked as a kennel technician for A-Animal Clinic in Fort Worth, TX. I walked, fed, and cared for the dogs who were in day camp and boarding. In 2015, I also comforted dogs in an unfamiliar environment as a Sales Associate at Petsmart in Sunset Valley, as well as helping connect pet parents to products and educational resources. Additionally, I have loved many an animal in my personal life. I grew up with a Bichon Frise dog (17 years old), a uromastyx lizard (now 16), a red earned slider turtle (now 15), and a few fish tanks.
